You're using it. It's called the world wide web.

the internet is just an offshoot of networking remotely located early warning radar sites together, euros made no contribution to it whatsoever.

European scientists did. Americans are low IQ garbage that can't even tie their own shoes.

The only thing you could argue that CERN had any part in was agreeing (after much hemming and hawing) to allow Tim Berners-Lee to apply his HTTP on their servers. They were dragged into the future by Berners-Lee.

The term 'internet' is used in a much more general and less technical sense than it was originally defined. It meant the infrastructure, packet switching and routing protocols. WWW means hypertext linking, browsers and rich content and so on. But today we just call everything together 'the internet'.

Modern x ray image sensors are basically particle detectors that were originally developed for experiments like the ones at CERN. PET scanners are pretty similar, too. Proton and ion therapy wouldn't exist without particle accelerators developed for fundamental research. I'm tired of pretending that fundamental research is just people fucking around.
Also, you're completely ignoring the education and training. Why do you think that google is praying on PhD students at CERN? Do you think it's the only company? Every Swiss bank has data analysis teams with people that did analysis for CERN experiments before. You can keep your opinion about banks to yourself, but even if 99% of the scientists drop out of academia, their knowledge and experience is of great value for society.

It did what it promised to do, it verified the existence of the higgs boson. Its just a tool doing what it was designed to so. As for value, thats subjective, some people think particle physics has no value, others say it has some value. Some people also say theres value in such a discovery but its not as valuable as the economic cost of building it
