How? If you work at an institution which is considered prestigious in your country, you get more or less decent pay for barely any effort. Yeah, you can make more in IT, but you'll have to do boring work overtime a lot, often having to complete your tasks after the working hours and on day offs.
Meanwhile as an academic, you'll have to appear at your workplace like a couple times a week by like 1pm, do a lecture or a seminar in a relaxed environment in front of a motivated audiance, then go drink some coffee, talk shit to your buddies and then go home or do whatever you want, if you're talented and can easily get published at Q2-Q1 journals, then you won't even be obliged to give classes or anything. It doesn't feel like work if you have a genuine interest in some research.
Then you'll have a lot free time left, and your head would be free of stress, so you'll have more opportunities to think on how to multiply your wealth actually instead of wageslaving your life away for a somewhat higher pay, without ever having much time to dedicate to your own projects.
