What are the most recent and most authoritative scientific findings on the topic of fluoridated water?
Is it really has harmful as some people say it is or does the science say that fluoridated water isn't unhealthy?

>> No.15713125

Well it was pretty settled science that fluoride is really bad for you until after WW2 and the creation of the CIA, etc. Around that time they came up with a theory about dental caries that just sort of got really popular. I'm not sure anyone's looked too closely since then. Might make an interesting experiment to see if the benefits of turning drinking water into a kind of mouth wash outweigh the drawbacks noted by old fashioned scientists like Cristiani, Roholm, Short, Pandit, Waldbott, Schmitz-Dumont, Borei, and Rapaport to name a few.

glad i live somewhere with nonfluoridated water, the locals here are all adamant about it and the reddit faggots all screech and moan and call them the locals ignorant hicks and try to demand fluoridated water. if fluoridated water was really so great, they should just all become dentists and cash in massively

excessive levels of fluoride gives kids brain damage and some cities in the states have naturally occuring fluoride that combined with the added fluoride exceeds these safe limits. which explains the average american. too much fluoride also fucks with teeth.

Not really. Every food prepared by someone else is salted. Every loaf of bread, every processed item in the supermarket contains salt. As if you'd only cook unsalted vegetables if you lived in Europe. You'd simply forget about it.

Also, why would you even avoid it? To get caries?

It's pointless. Almost no one drinks unfiltered tap water. The entire premise that everyone should ingest fluoride so the children of irresponsible parents might get a bit of it on their teeth is itself stupid. There appears to be no benefit to the public of having fluoridated water. I haven't seen evidence from the anti-fluoride crowd that convinces me of any great harm but as the original purpose of adding it in the first place is crap, it doesn't really matter if the anti-fluoride folks have a point or not because the fluoride itself is pointless.

Yes and every source of fluoride is treated as if there is no other sources at all. The amount put in water doesn't account for people who drink more than average but even worse it doesn't factor that the water is used in foods e.g. pasta, rice, cereals. There's fluoride pesticides that have very dubious assumptions that justify the "safe" residue levels. Even saying all that, there is no amount of fluoride that isn't hurting you, just amounts where it becomes noticeable.

>> No.15721364

>>15717489
too much fluoride also fucks with teeth.
It's literally bad for teeth in all amounts. The benefit to teeth is that of a mouthwash - it kills bacteria on contact because fluoride is deadly to life.

It takes distillation, reverse osmosis, or specialized filters to remove fluoride. The majority of filtered water still has fluoride in it.

>Is it really has harmful as some people say it is or does the science say that fluoridated water isn't unhealthy?
I'm not going to bother with citations for this and I'm not going into schizo shit like pineal calcification (which is 100% true) HOWEVER

The way fluoride works to protect your teeth is by being absorbed by damaged enamel which strengthens and repairs that damage. This is a process that occurs naturally in a healthy, nourished body. Most people damage their teeth too quickly for natural processes to repair them, so fluoride helps fill the gap.

The problem is that when your teeth are repaired with fluoride, they can't be repaired by anything else, and fluoride (or rather fluorapatite, the mineral formed by fluoride) is not the ideal mineral for tooth composition. When your teeth are excessively composed of fluoroapatite, it results in a medical condition called fluorosis, the main symptoms of which are weakened, damaged teeth. Fluoroapatite is just a shitty mineral for human teeth. As a natural component of teeth, fluoroapatite is mainly found in the teeth of fish and sharks. Sharks replace their teeth at regular intervals so the mineral composition of their teeth is not subject to the same concerns as human teeth, the most important being long term durability.

Repairing your damaged teeth with fluoride is better than nothing but the optimal solution is adjusting your lifestyle and diet so that your teeth can be repaired naturally, which will result in them being healthier and stronger than teeth repaired with fluoride. Your enamel is mostly hydroxyapatite rather than fluorapatite and there are many fluoride-free toothpastes which contain hydroxyapatite as the reparative agent.

Even if absolutely none of the other concerns about fluoride are true, the interiority of fluoroapatite alone seems enough cause to avoid fluoride-based dental care products in favor of hydroxyapatite-based ones.
