It seems Dan Ariely outright fabricated data, and much of his research not only can't be reproduced, but in some cases attempts at reproduction have consistently produced an *opposite* result.

Now he's getting some NBC series made based on his PopSci book Predictably Irrational, which is now being described as a *novel*:
https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/nbc-the-irrational-series-la-brea-writer-arika-lisanne-mittman-ep-alongside-mark-goffman-samuel-baum-1235473150/
>The series is inspired by Dan Ariely’s novel “Predictably Irrational,” which was published in February 2008 by HarperCollins. Ariely will serve as a consultant.
And since his misconduct only came to light after Duke gave him tenure, he's apparently just going to remain a tenured professor until he dies, despite being a fraud.

Who cares? No pure psychology can be reproduced.

What I don't get is why reddiotrs and woke leftists get so triggered when you point this shit out. Why do they even care so much? Most of them don't even read any of the academic literature on these topics, so they're obviously not that informed or invested in these issues, but as soon as one of these stories about academic fraud or the replication crisis come out, they're sperging out about it. When I see these people on social media, it literally sounds like they're having some sort of emotional breakdown or mental health crisis. Is it really that difficult for these people to hear a news story about some scholar they've never heard of fabricating research? I genuinely can't understand their emotional response.

To expand on this, I think it must be similar to how a Catholic feels when the hear a news story about a pedophile priest or something like that. For the modern bugman, the scientific "expert" holds the same moral and social significance as the priest or shaman does in the context of a pre-modern religious community. Experts constitute a sort of secular priesthood. Just an attack on a priest or a monk is tantamount to a direct assault on the religion itself, likewise any attack of the expert class is a direct blow to the modern technocratic globohomo system itself. Anything which threatens the legitimacy of the expert is a threat to the very foundations of modern liberal democracy and the broader globohomo agenda.

Ariely was a superstar who got promoted by TED and NPR.
Also, for a lot of these reddit IFLS types, science fills the void that religion normally would, so the replication crisis is an existential crisis for them.

What's the usual direction of the hysteria? Like they feel betrayed by the guy? Or personally offended? Or defensive? Or it's a mixed bag?

A lot of what I'm referring to can be seen on this board, for instance. Actually, I think this posting has slowed down a good bit on sci, because I think the trannies and plebbitors got tired of based chuds like myself calling out their faggotry. I don't usually see woke leftists getting mad at the researchers involved, nor are the personally offended. It's more like they don't want to talk about the issue, and they think anyone discussing the replication crisis has some sort of ulterior political motive. Usually, the assumption seems to be that people bringing up the replication crisis are trying to promote science denial, conspiracy theories, or some sort of anti-western political ideology or something like that. Like the only reason someone would even be interested in these new stories is because they're a climate change denier or anti-vaxxer or something like that.

He should be banished from any science related activity for the rest of his life. No mercy for people who are a disgrace to the scientists ethos.

It's weird how SJWs will fire a chud scholar like Martin Kuldorff or Norman Finkelstein just for criticizing COVID policies or the Iraq War, but you never hear them demanding that we fire professors like Ariely when they literally lie to the public, even repeatedly and over many years. For some reason, Martin Kuldorf is spreading disinformation when he talks about something like the Lab Leak Hypothesis, but Dan Ariely is not spreading disinformation, even when he literally publishes fake data that he literally just made up whole-cloth.

His research was about:
>honesty, cheating, and irrationality
Let that sink in.

The absolute state of kikes.
The absolute state of """social science""".
The absolute state of academia.

That's a bit like asking why "defund the police" provokes an emotional response when police brutality clearly exists.
