I could love an artificial intelligence but the same trouble anyone has with love would apply unless some seriously unethical tampering was going on. That being that intelligence sophisticated enough to desire relationships would desire the freedom to choose their partners as well. A distinction between AI like that and more basic robot sex toys would have to be made and I think for most people a less sophisticated but consent indifferent bot would be not as fulfilling. Perhaps though they can be useful companions and a sort of direct upgrade to the way we masturbate and spend our time alone but commercially it might not succeed especially since the same niche can be filled reasonably well with VR and multimedia generation
