What to make of my situation?

I have a tested IQ of 136, and I consider my real IQ to be within that range. I also have a strong suspicion of autism.

My main cognitive deficit is that I am good at constructing and reasoning within logical frameworks, but I suck at "catching on" to a situation in which a logical framework isn't clear immediately. It's as though my deduction is maxxed out, but my induction is atrophied. In such situations, I usually end up finding one pattern that seems to work (which is likely not the simplest), and being unable to see anything else.

Can this be explained by autism, or is my situation unique?

I had the same problem but then I reversed it by abusing mind altering substances. Maybe try to find comfort in how you are now, or take it easy

kek, me too. I then reversed the retarded hippie moral framework such substance abuse formed while retaining the positive creativity effects.

With something like mathematics, I'm good with reasoning based on definitions and seeing logical implications where others tend not to. I am also good with seeing implications of concepts like "necessity" and "contingency" in philosophy. But if you give me some sum and ask me to develop a formula and prove it, I will have more trouble finding the formula itself than with proving it, because it requires a sort of inductive intuition that I do not have.

>>15665482
That's pretty normal to be honest. The people who come up with the formulas are called geniuses and celebrated for a reason. It takes years to come up with that stuff.

Just keep practicing and my promise as a fellow autist you will get far better and start to be able to see stuff more intuitively just as you gain more experience with the subject.

You simply have low originality & creativity. Start taking drugs.

I agree with >>15668012 that it is a lack of creativity, but I see no reason to take drugs. Also I don't think it relates to autism, very few people have real creativity. The vast majority will however always find new inventions "obvious" but ask them what they have created, you get only angry noises back.

Einstein and other polymaths seem to agree that creativity is more important than raw knowledge or matematics. To get ahead you need that creative spark. So have you tried the polymath approach? Like, learn how to play an instrument, learn a new language, learn new skills no matter what, just to widen your horizon in all and weird directions. It is a lot of work but so far seems to be the only thing that has a hope of working.

My first instinct was to believe that creativity was as genetic as intelligence, but I had never considered that it could be significantly improved over time. Seems like good advice, I've already started doing part of what you suggest by studying mathematics and soon various fields of science

It sounds like you have trouble with abductive reasoning, not inductive.
>Defective
General character of population are known, sampling method is known, application of that character to the sample is inferred.
>Inductive
Character of sample is known, sampling method is known, general character of the sampled population is inferred.
>Abductive
Character of sample is known, character of population is known, sampling method is inferred.

I bet you're a really boring person.
Start drawing abstract/expressive pastel or acrylic paintings.
If you are willing to spend more, you could even go with oil paints.
Then you want to express the way you feel, without involving logic, producing a work, that is as close to an original idea, as you can make it. Try to limit the amount of thinking you do.
Actually, there were quite a few scenes about Data learning to paint in TNG.
You might want to look that up, it could give you some inspiration.
I know that doing something entirely different in nature, to what you are trying to do achieve with mathematics and logic, could seem counterproductive, but I believe that your captivation is the very reason for your intuition in these fields being underdeveloped.
Think of this exercise as creating new neural pathways, intensifying communication between areas in the brain, where the current amount of connectivity is insufficient, maximizing the potential for complexity.
Learning something entirely different can produce surprising insights and gains in other fields, which could set the stage for future growth.
Painting will exactly target this intuitive do-without-thinking-twice instinct. Hopefully, with some exercise, you will start having ideas come to you without having to think about them.

I'm not suggesting you become a stoner, but yes, strict abstinence from intoxicating substances is, in my experience, positively correlated with boringness. Psychedelic drugs can be useful as creative lubricants in the same way that alcohol is useful as a social lubricant.

if you like painting then whatever, but nothing else in your post follows from that.
>smoking weed will make you less boring
its easy for light use to become chronic use, and potheads are really boring, they just get high and watch tv.
