Fraud has not been proven. If their samples don't measure zero-resistance, that would be fraudulent.

By now you should know fraud can't really be proven if the researcher just sticks to his words. Everything can be explained away by "I copied the data wrong" and "you didn't replicate it correctly".

I have a theory on the failure. According to Hyun-Tak Kim, the original July 22 papers were NOT intended for publication. They were rather leaked by a team member Kwon, who had conflicts with the rest of the team. My theory is that Kwon wanted to get revenge on the team by making the media hype LK-99 early, knowing that the replications would fail and the papers couldn't be finished in a short time, so the team's reputation would be ruined, and no one will continue to believe them when they finish.

Sure, it's also possible that the whole thing was a hoax. But with the theoretical basis of Soviet physics and the fact that Prof. Chair did research in the 1990s, I still think it's likely that this was a pitiful mistake. None of the media that reported the failure of replications seemed to mention Kwon's conflicts and the incompleteness of the papers, or whether the original team would have a more complete release. They all seemed to have settled the case. I still hope that the South Korean committee can reverse it.

i hope it's not somebody too retarded to realize FLIR struggles to measure temperature in broad daylight because of IR reflection

They are implying that global warming isn't real due to the instruments they use to measure global temperature not being properly setup and not isolated from outside influences like a car driving by

...do they not understand that's why it's in a housing? did they think thermometers were always that fucking huge?

what a silly way to see it. do you think people who need the material for their applications look at what twitter has to say about the material? if they start selling the material and it has superconductivity at room temp then someone is going to buy it and use it. irrespective of what any testing authority says about it.

Small thermometers are more vulnerable to minor local temperature fluctuations, which would reduce accuracy.
