Intelligent people recognize the entire spectrum of intelligence. They obviously see how they're smarter than midwits but they also know how much less smarter they are than geniuses. The midwit doesn't see any of this. He mistakenly believes himself to be part of the intellectual elite for the achievement of merely regurgitating some professor's opinions. The midwit doesn't know the difference between regurgitation and critical thinking.

It happened because only the unintelligent are involved in the study of IQ. So their conclusions are invariably going to be incorrect. On the other hand, any man who has some degree of intelligence will be able to make better conclusions than the IQ researcher themselves.

Just like an Ironsmith's conclusions about the nature of the Iron he's working with are going to be wrong. Because precisely the unintelligent end up as Ironsmiths. Conversely, if you were to ask a physicist, or any intelligent person really, he would be able to tell you about the nature of Iron better than the Ironsmith himself.

Not to say that the Ironsmith or IQ researcher aren't needed. But they are needed only for raw material (in the form of Iron or data). Not for their deep insights into the raw material.

Because I'm going to be honest with you, only an IQ "researcher" can believe that there has been much meaningful progress in raw data collection since the 90's. The foundational errors of a research topic are often more apparent to people on the outside than people whose livelihoods depend on it

There is obviously a problem if the research is obviously contradicted by everyday experience.
There is no realworld advantage to having high IQ. It's always the low IQ people who need to adapt to the high IQ person by learning to comprehend their logorrhea, and expanding what they say themselves. Never the other way round that just isn't possible. This only wors for a narrow difference, you need several levels if you get a 6000 pages long document dumped on you, each progresively condensing it a bit more for the level below, and similar on the opposite direction.

I have been told I'm intelligent all my life, you probably had a similar treatment. Obviously, us both are much more likely to accept certain implications of IQ, because we aren't threatened by it. But hearing that your cerebral system itself, your mind, and, in some way, your soul might be subpar is hard to stomach for most.
