Is there great evidence that IQ tests are accurate outside of their correlation to school and job performance?

no, there's actually mostly evidence surrounding how innacurate they are

thought exercise - you're given a choice: you can live in a society where everyone scores 130 on an iq test, or a society where everyone scores 95 on an iq test. we'll assume the test is rigorous and at the bleeding edge of research in the iq field. would you choose to live in: a. the 130 society, b. the 95 society, or c. a coin flip since iq is meaningless so you don't care either way. be honest

it's not "obviously a" to the 105-scorers who think iq is meaningless or only shows how good you are at taking tests a la

I would choose a coin flip because I simply don't know enough in this scenario to make a decision, but if I am forced to make a decision, I would choose 95.

I haven't seen any evidence that extremely intelligent people score below 100 IQ nor have I seen any evidence that extremely retarded people score above 100 IQ
Why wouldn't it be a useful metric? Unless there is a more reliable method of determining ones intelligence?

Good choice, because that is the one where you would fit in. If anything, you might have to hold out for an 85 or 75 IQ universe to be among peers

So the considered unbiased methodology of intelligence quotient tests are the ones that are based on pattern recognition. There is a correlation between better pattern recognition, however there are other forms of intelligence. Logic, short term memory, long term memory, muscle memory, body limbs coordination, computation, verbal cues, mental object rotation, and facial cues. You can have someone with great short term and long term memory but if he cannot reason properly then certain fields are not suitable. Most medical doctors and nurses fall into the category of good memory. However, those fields rarely reward those with good logic and reasoning. Most doctors will memorize jargon and the functions of man's body. Most will not be able to even grasp recursion let alone be able to come up with the logic necessary for recursion. Now you might think I am being harsh on the medical field, but honestly I am not. Most medical doctors and nurses just input your problem into a computer and the computer will bring up possible medical conditions and treatments. This is why medical malpractice is killing so many people. The medical school is too focused on memorization and not reasoning.

I am sure some of you medical doctors here are going to take offense to this post, but I may not be talking about you, but you know the people I am talking about. And you know that they are the reason so much medical malpractice permeates the system. They were only good at memorizing verbatim. Any deviation does not compute.

Correct, that is exactly why I chose it. You are a smart guy for intuiting my reasoning as well. 85 wouldn't be that bad either, but 75? nah I'm good
