He's overrated
Out of the current popular science communicators he seems to be the worst, and the one who knows the least about what he's talking about.
He often focuses on shock factor instead of facts, like Carl Sagan used to do 50 years ago. Only that 50 years ago it was justified, since people were less open to talk about these themes and needed to be seduced into them.
Nowadays, having so many other contributors talking about serious stuff, in a more scientific manner, being so popular between average joes, it doesn't make any sense.
Neil DeGrasse Tyson isn't the worst thing in the planet. He's probably cool and an excelent teacher. But he just seems like a meme that blew up.

I wholeheartedly agree with you bro. I was "seduced" into Sagan's books and series as a kid and would say he was one of the best scientist ever. Now I say, he was one of the best science communicators.
I don't know if it's a matter of not being a kid anymore but Tyson simply never was this attractive to me. I don't know. And he haven't done cool nice things like Sagan had done, like the Voyagers projects :p
