When I was a kid I liked snakes, now I don't. They are as creepy and off-putting to me as they are to anyone else. What's up with that.

Snakes are pure. They are perfectly built, simplest possible body structure, their movement looks like magic, and they can kill a man. Archetypal creature that supposedly we are programmed by evolution to detect before we are even conscious of seeing them. All of the religious symbolism and lore (SNAKES ARE LE EVIL) is due to their relatively small size, spooky movement, and deadliness. Man could not tolerate a small animal that could kill him, so he made it the representative of the most evil force in the universe.

I'm the opposite. As a kid I was trained to fear and kill any snake, but once I grew up I learned about the various species that live in my area and how to ID them. Now, if I see a snake, I'll pick it up, get a good look, and relocate it. Except for copperheads, which I leave alone.

The real test needs to be done in real life and not by watching a video.
I’ve noticed that I get startled by any strange bug I see in the house, no matter if it’s safe, like a cockroach, or poisonous, like a spider. It’s a natural instinct that you have.
