15455083 No.15455083 [Reply] [Original]

The climate has been changing at a steady pace for eons now, and suddenly because humans start consuming the tiniest amount of resources and everso slightly change a few years its a global crisis? Many of these events happened in recent history before the industrial revolution, why does it matter now?

>>15455083
We're outpacing the rate of CO2 accumulation seen in the Permian-Triassic extinction event. If you don't think that matters you don't know anything. When that inevitably sets off a positive feedback loop releasing sequestered CO2 all it's going to take for a similar mass extinction is bad luck. It's never exclusively about some single cause, it's about balance. The more you start to tip, the more likely smaller and smaller events are to make you fall. Same goes for the P-T extinction event, and similar.

Obviously it's a problem now and a problem with us because we're the ones causing it. For the P-T event it took numerous simultaneous bad luck events for that to occur, same for rapid sulfur dioxide accumulation and precipitious increase then plummeting of global temperature killing off everything. If we're stupid enough we'll manage that all on our own.

>We're outpacing the rate of CO2 accumulation seen in the Permian-Triassic extinction event.
completely false, the siberian traps mantle plume eruption was adding over 100ppm annually, we are adding less than 3, furthermore the volcanic event blotted out the sun, preventing the co2 from being converted to organic matter, in our current situation the co2 is leading to an increase in organic matter.

There is no such thing as a sardonic frown.
The term "sardonic grin" comes from the practice in Phoenician Sardinia of disposing of criminals and old people using Hemlock Water Dropwort. The poison acts by constricting the muscles causing death by asphixia which also causes a rictus like death grin AKA the sardonic grin.

I don't think things projected to happen by climate alarms are bad. He's some notes I drew up a while ago, give me reasons why they require us to surrender our freedom to the state:

Decline in fruit-bearing trees in Sahel - its a desert?
Malaria increases in Kenyan highlands – population increase, building near swamps?
More vulnerable livelihood trajectories for indigenous Aymara farmers in Bolivia, due to water shortage – run by socalists, expect corruption
Increase in agricultural yields and expansion of agricultural areas in southeastern South America – more food = disaster?
Impacts on livelihoods of indigenous groups in the Canadian Arctic – next to no one on earth is apart of this group (IPCC says: “Warming; change in snow cover; change in sea ice” / they claim a ‘change in ice’, so its not decreasing or they’d say so right?)
Impact on livelihoods of Arctic indigenous peoples - to no one on earth is apart of this group (IPCC says: “Warming; change in snow cover; change in sea ice” / they claim a ‘change in ice’, so its not decreasing or they’d say so right?)
ncrease of shipping traffi c across the Bering Strait – “major change” understandable, but: “No change” under where a other potential factor affecting it ‘reference change’ should be. WHAT ABOUT MODERN ICEBREAKERS? No ice breakers in the 1850s besides sail powered, certainly nothing on our modern scale. Still fair enough bout less (?) ice
Increased degradation of coastal fi sheries due to direct effects and effects of increased coral reef bleaching – Due to the climate causing bleeching right? NOPE!(IPCC: Role of climate= Minor ) ha! And (IPCC: Coastal fisheries degraded by overfishing and pollution) huh, so bleaching CAN be caused by POLLUTION? Funny how they always use reefs as a star in the climate crisis...

>> No.15462031

>>15462028

Aside; a lot of “increases” in food production with “Major” climate cause... funny that

Minors:
Reduced fi sheries productivity of Great Lakes and Lake Kariba – “Minor”
Stagnation of wheat yields in some countries in recent decades – “Minor”
Positive yield impacts for some crops, mainly in northern Europe – “Minor”
Negative impacts on aggregate wheat yields in South Asia – “Minor”
Negative impacts on aggregate wheat and maize yields in China – “Minor”
Increased degradation of coastal fisheries due to direct effects and effects of increased coral reef bleaching – “Minor”

Majors:
Advance timing of wine-grape maturation in recent decades – “Major”
Increase in agricultural yields and expansion of agricultural areas in southeastern South America – “Major”
For the other table above :
Increase in coral bleaching in the Great Barrier Reef and Western Australian Reefs - Pollution; physical disturbance huh

Another thing I find strange about focusing on fossil fuels as the predictor of our doom, is that the carbon source for those fuels originated from the atmosphere.

See this graph, assuming it is roughly accurate, we can see that ppm CO2 was an order of magnitude higher than today. Presumably we could burn ALL fossil fuel reserves, and our climate would at worst return to what it was in those archaic times.

Of course, that might kill a bunch of fancy tree frogs, but humans are unbelievably adaptable.

What i'm saying there, is that the increase in malaria cases will not be a result of the climate changing, but as a result of the increased population of those countries where malaria is found.

In much the same way the UK is building on its forests, Uganda might be building on it's swamps.

fake news, great barrier reed coral is currently growing more rapidly than it has ever been recored in the past
https://e360.yale.edu/digest/great-barrier-reef-coral-cover-2022-record
>Great Barrier Reef See Most Extensive Coral Cover In 36 Years
>In the northern and central stretches of the Great Barrier Reef, scientists have recorded the most extensive coral cover seen in 36 years of study, according to a new report from the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS).

Researchers tracked hard coral across 87 reefs along the coast of Queensland from August 2021 to May 2022, finding that coral cover reached 36 percent in the northern third of the reef and 33 percent in the central third, up from 27 percent and 26 percent, respectively, the prior year.

>> No.15463784

>>15463409
Yep, i'm sure that's the case. I'm simply commenting on what the IPCC claims will happen.
>Increased degradation of coastal fisheries due to direct effects and effects of increased coral reef bleaching – “Minor”
They believe that a) coral reefs will bleach in the future, however they b) factor that climate change contributes to that will be "minor"

If you read the AR5 report pages 1008-1010, you will see that they actaully admit that climate change will have many "minor" negative affects, but will have many "major" positive affects like increased crop yields in south america.
