There is a thing, that has no name, but should have. The name should be "semantic hallucination".

We all have a specific feeling of when something makes sense. Wen can feel an argument has a hole before we can even stop exactly what it is. And we feel when an argument is solid even before checking it in detail. Of course it can go wrong, but the feeling exists.

I suspect it has to do with the amount of synapses it activates is some sort of 'coherent' fashion.

Drugs overflow your brain with neurotransmitters, making it easier for synapses to communicate. This can give you a FALSE feeling of understanding - because, compared to your baseline feeling of 'this makers sense', a lot of things start to 'make sense' because the communication is decalibrated. Think about a sensor that became too sensitive and starts giving false positives.

Its not because you feel something makes sense that it necessarily makes sense.

I invite you to eat a weed cake and reflect upon the experience. You will notice that when you're high, a lot of things seem to make a lot of sense. But when the effect is gone, you see, clearly, its was all nonsense and you were in an altered state in which your perception of what makes sense and what doesn't was distorted.

Because weed spikes your dopamine levels. The same neurotransmitter schizos have in excess by default.
