It followed the classic trajectory of a mutating airborne respiratory virus that mutates into more contagious but less deadly variants. And now it's just another no-biggie cold. Maybe the shots sped up the process, but it doesn't seem like it, since by the time the shots rolled out, the original variant for which they seemed to be effective had already died out. Very few people took the omicron shot and omicron also seems to have disappeared anyway.
