Solar Flare 2010, headed for Earth today, evidently. Though 99% sure it's a hoax, or exaggerated, Discuss.

Captcha: concentrates maturer, IRONIC because I came from /b/.

But this is something serious that I was concerned about, so I came to you guys. No joking. I'm a mature adult, going to college for science. This area of science however, I know little to nothing about, so I thought this board would help me out.

Don't be like that.

>Nasa recently warned that Britain could face widespread power blackouts and be left without critical communication signals for long periods of time, after the earth is hit by a once-in-a-generation “space storm”.

So basically...you folks on here are just about as useless/lolworthy as the /b/tards? Naive me thought there'd be scientists arguing and throwing fireballs at each other left and right. This pleases me.

>> No.1539514

Don't worry OP, the solar flare isn't a Roland Emmerich plot device.

>> No.1539521

LOL.

>> No.1539527

It aint gonna do shit brah, it happens every so often

It will just be kinda hot out that day, might not get as good cell reception

>> No.1539529

There was already a thread about it. It's shit.

>> No.1539533

solar flairs are a myth, op.

take it from an astrophysicist.

>> No.1539538

That's what I figured, no legitimate sites said ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING, and there were recorded solar flares of this volume way back in 2008,and we're still here.

But who likes the sound of "solar tsunami", honestly.
Thanks though.
Trolled by Nasa, I was.

well if you're going to browse other boards, it'd be for the better if you didnt say you came from there.
hoax? probably not.
exaggerated? yes

I was simply stating that so everyone here was aware that I wouldn't know any /sci/ lingo they threw at me. Perhaps to dumb things down, if you will. Sorry.

On the bright side, look forward to an impressive display of aurora borealis/australis.

Well I hope north korea uses the possible power and radio equipment failures to invade the south. Seriosuly, I need something interesting going on in the world.

>> No.1539638

sooo where is my aurora borealis?
they say it could be seen on lower latitudes

>> No.1539651

rumor has it that once the flare hits earth, there will ne no warning, except for the fact every living thing on earth will instantly turn into a skeloton

>> No.1539662

wot is a skeloton?

>> No.1539676

It's liek a skeleton except it gets vaporised by an imaginary solar flare.

People are stupid.
