what scientific ways to fix bitten nails? I heard nail oil should work but I can't imagine the reason for it to aid in growing nails/fixing the tissue.

Supplement your Vitamin Ds and Bs - specifically B7 (Biotin) and that will help them grow back faster/healthier - but the key is that you gotta stop biting them - as others have mentioned/as is obvious.
