What's the formula for this?
I need to know to make 45 degree diagonal humping animations in koikatsu.

Where did you get the 12.5?

A^2+B^2=c^2
C=5
A=B
A^2+A^2=5^2
2(A^2)=25
A=sqrt(25/2)

(5x5)+(5x5)=50
50x50=2,500
2,500=5

Sorry, I'm just a coomer. Can you explain further?

If I'm interpreting the diagram correctly, you are asking for the side length of a triangle. You have three lines all labeled 5, which is the length of each line. The diagonal line is a hypotenuse at 45. The sides form a 90 degree angle so it's a right triangle described by Pythagoras theorem. If the hypotenuse is 5 the side lengths must be less than 5. If the two other angles are 45 degrees then the two other sides are the same length. Therefore the equation used is the Pythagorean theorem a^2 +b^2 =c^2 where c is 5 and a and b are unknowns, but a must equal b, so the problem can be solved.

Yes. I do think the length of the vertical and horizontal doesn't matter. Thanks.

5x5=25
25/2=12.5
sqrt(12.5)=3.54

Thanks. For the formula.

What about if it's just 30 degrees from floor?

The decline of the quality of posters on this board gets more and more shocking every day. Everyone in this thread is a mega retard. The assumption must be that the hypotenuse bisects the angle in the corner, so the interior angle is 45 degrees. Therefore, it requires a simple application of SOHCAHTOA from middle school.

sin(45deg) = ?/5
? \approx 3.53553390593

Then this is also trivial, if you realize the general form instead of doing it the dumbass way like this faggot

sin(45deg) = 0.70...
0.70... x 5 = 3.54

Thanks.

sin(30deg) = 0.5
0.5 x 5 = 2.5

and

sin(60deg) = 0.86...
0.86... x 5 = 4.33

Pythagorean or trigonometry

For trig it's arccos(45)*5 and arcsin(45)*5
For pythagoras it's 5 squared is equal to the sides squared added together

So 25 = a2 + b2
If a and b are equal length they're both the root of 12.5

Have fun with animating!

Small correction, I am tired
Got the trig stuff wrong

Don't use arc, just use regular sin(45) and cos(45)

This is what happens when you do math sleepdrunk.

If you wanna know why sin and cos works just ask
