Energy can not be destroyed, but transformed.

CO2 can be converted into O2 through trees

So why is Greta angry? Can't we just reverse the effect? What is the challenge?

So it's a scam? My Uni is trying to teach the opposite, which confuses me. 4chan seems like a more reliable source, my fellow autist.

>Global warming vs Thermodynamics
What is it with the laws of thermodynamics and schizos? I recall young Earth creationists babbling about the 2nd law of thermodynamics, and now GW deniers picked it up?

boltzmann developed his preposterous ideas based on ridiculous concept of a universe with a baseline temperature of 0ºK, which is fundamentally impossible even under his own theories. you can go through his derivations using measured, real world observations (2.7ºK average temperature) and a learn the real constants that way. or you can just make life easy for yourself and memorize whats in the textbooks.

You clearly need to do some critical background reading. Start here: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelvin

Put simply. Before humans the CO2 to O2 conversion was in balance. Trees and Algae can only convert the small pool of pre-industrial revolution CO2 (no excess CO2 in the atmosphere lest imbalance) Now there's too much CO2 and not enough conversion. This has fuck all to do with thermodynamics.

>> No.15312397

>>15312394
But we know that the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere had declined to almost crisis levels, meaning that it was actually using up more CO2 than was being produced.

Because of Milankovitch cycles, carbon dioxide in ice ages, gets trapped in ice and then released when it gets warmer. Thats why CO2 declined.

Concentrations of CO2 under 200ppm are nearly at the breaking point for most life on Earth. Throughout the majority of evolutionary history it was much higher. Far higher even than it is now.

I mean look at the graph.
The CO2 reaches under 200ppmv about 50 times

We should be incredibly thankful that industrialization brought us far enough from the brink that one bad glacial cycle combined with a natural disaster won't cause a mass floral extinction.

>> No.15312450

From regular almost sinusoidal cycling CO2 levels? We wouldn't even face that type of extinction for another 80,000 years.

And thankfully we solved the problem now, not when it's about to destroy the biosphere. All we have to do is make sure the CO2 level doesn't shrink down so far in the future.

graphic's time interval selected in order to mislead and manipulate, co2 had been 2000ppm in the recent past with no negative impact whatsoever for life on earth. that period was left off this graphic in order to present a false picture of the situation.
