you're too lazy & dishonest to be involved in legitimate science, best you'll end up as is yet another impostor who contributes to the replication crisis in exchange for a paycheck. go spend $85 to get yourself a forklift cert, you'll earn more money than scientists, have better hours and you'll avoid all the mental angst of wondering if your lying and laziness will catch up to you eventually, which it probably will.

How is being an ESL fag akin to being lazy? It’s not like the AI is making up my achievements and experience.

It took me a couple of iterations to get to the desired length and content. Then I just inserted my experience and projects in placeholders and added a couple paragraphs explaining my projects in brief.

This “trick” doesn’t work for drafting the research proposal though.

you niggers are too stupid and jump onto conclusion that I am using direct output from chatGPT. there are much smarter ways to use that bitch. I use it mostly as template generating and paraphrasing tool. it's just automation.

the way I would use chatGPT to draft a personal statement:
- give it your info and ask it what should you write in the statement.
- tell it to give you a <TEMPLATE> only
- fill in the template with your information. describe your project in somewhat detailed way. you must write this part yourself first!
- paraphrase the opening and closing. they're braindead filler shit anyway so probably take 10-15 mins max.
- now, copy and paste paragraph by paragraph and ask it to review your gramma and review the content of each according to the strategy you are aiming for (yes, chatGPT can review, I use it before)
now you should have a mostly great personal statement. give it to your friends to review again.

grad school is composed mostly of unqualified diversity and they drag down the intellectual level to their lowest common denominator. intelligent people wouldn't waste their time on it. idiots feel right at home.

In reality, the purpose of an "academic statement" is entirely sociological, not academic. By that I mean to say that a Statement of Purpose is not intended to convey your passion for the subject nor your intellectual aptitude, but rather to function as a form of social signaling. You are basically signaling to the social in-group (the Department, the Professors, etc.) that you are one of them, i.e. that you share their beliefs and values, that you have already been socialized into the petit bourgeois/professional managerial cultural milieu, that you know the lingo, the lifestyle, the norms, etc.

At my uni they would submit every paper we turned in into a database that would check is against basically everything online as well as the papers of other students, so I assume this admission committee did the exact same thing and found an overwhelming match to either an online template or another student’s essay, probably the former. As a side note, when I would submit an essay I could see the report of the plagiarism check and was always worried about a false positive when I checked the report.

That's why the most important thing to include in one of these so-called "academic statements", is actually a catalog of all your social relationships within the world of academia. Name dropping a list of previous advisors, employers, collaborators, etc. will do far more to make your academic statement appealing to the admissions committee than anything you might actually include about your academic interests or ideas or what you have studied and would like to study. In fact, these are almost irrelevant, and if you talk to a professor or someone else who knows what they're talking about, it is likely they will explicitly tell you not to focus too much on your "interests" when writing one of these statements, since admissions committees are not interested in vague and wishy-washy concepts like you "interests" or passion, or even explicit ideas or research subject that you might be interested in.

If you really want to get into a top grad program, don't spend your high school and college studying for the SAT and GRE and doing research and getting good grades. A much better way to allocate your time and resources if you want to get into a top grad program would be to make as many friends at your local country club or make a big donation to your favorite university or NPR station (or better yet, have your parents do so). That's how most midwit yuppies end up getting into these big name universities.

So basically this is easily countered by rewording what the N.N. shits out and passing that through a plagiarism checker.
I wasn't sure if they were using an other N.N. (possibly gpt 3 derived) to figure it out. That would be a giant can of worms.

> So basically this is easily countered by rewording
Depends on what you consider “easily.” Uni plagiarism checkers can still detect similarities in a writing behind the occasional rewording. I’d imagine rewording an another work is how most plagiarizes get caught.

Did you do that electric circuit and bridge projects or was that writen by chatgpt?
Because if you did these projects you could sue them, but if you didnt then they have evidence you made it up.
You can also sue them even if you used chatgpt. Its just a writing aid, there should be no problem as long as the information was real, like your projects and references.
