My mom bumped walked barefoot into some plant 2 years ago and she never went to a doctor. She applies cream but just keeps scratching at it. She rips off wrappings at night just to scratch it

What do

At the very least have her bandage it so she can't keep scratching it.

This is quite possibly. Alternatively if the cream contains cortisone or some other steroidal anti-inflammatory it’s meant for short-term use only at the risk of developing exactly what you’ve posted.

You might try Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. Rumours are it contains cortison but it was never declared. I use it when I get similar skin problems.
I fist heard of this when I started playing the clarinet. Woodwind instruments often cause lip problems, and the standard advice has been to use this cream.

OP here. My mom says her cream contained this and she used it for 2 months
