We all started out as "brownish." Not black, as some claim, that's entirely different. The skin color diverged out both ways. But there was a time we were all mostly brownish. That's not African blacks, not close to them. It was as far from them as it was from whites, it was in the middle.

Some races lightened up a whole lot more than they used to be just a few thousand years ago. The slaves of the Egyptians were not "black people," though. Even then when the people that were enslaved were darker skinned than that same group of people are today, they were not considered black. Their descendants are not African blacks.
