hey /sci/ can you explain the Big Bang's singularity and/or what you think about the Big Bang compared to M-Theory?
pic unrelated

>> No.1517315

big bang = hey cool, evidence

M-theory = mathematicians cannot into physics without fucking things up

Something wrong with that graphic...
Red dwarfs don't expand - they shrink, eventually becoming blue dwarfs before burning out.

Singularity?
What's wrong with the idea of nothing (in total) coming from nothing?

M-Theory-fanboys: OMG OMG ED WITTEN IS SUCH A GENIUS AND HE DESERVES THE NOBEL PRICE.

When (super) string theory is nothing but a mathematicians wet dream. Zero predictions are made, empirical input=0. Witten got the fields medal, fine. That's what M-Theory is all about. Super complex mathematics.

in the graphic the red dwarf isn't expanding

Is too.

what process does the second blue supergiant have to go thru to become a black hole?

>> No.1517346

its going from a red dwarf to a red dwarf to a white dwarf.

Gravitational collapse, presumably...can't support it's own weight.

Red dwarf to bigger red dwarf to white dwarf...when it should be Red dwarf to smaller blue dwarf to black dwarf.

black dwarf?

>>1517351
Yes, the fag-end of stellar evolution.
No fusion & as cold as the interstellar medium.

>> No.1517355

>>1517349
A black dwarf is a hypothetical stellar remnant, created when a white dwarf becomes sufficiently cool to no longer emit significant heat or light. Since the time required for a white dwarf to reach this state is calculated to be longer than the current age of the universe of 13.7 billion years, no black dwarfs are expected to exist in the universe yet, and the temperature of the coolest white dwarfs is one observational limit on the age of the universe.

What happened to the huge-ass supernova?

as i thought you left out white dwarf

those are only with much bigger stars

>> No.1517369

It shouldn't be in there.
A White dwarf is mainly degenerate matter.
A Red dwarf will pass through a period of being 'white', on it's way to becoming blue, without becoming degenerate.

In terms of names.

Electron Star > White Dwarf.

lolwut?

>> No.1517403

i have a hypothetical question and i dont need u to point out that its probably impossible im just bored and thought this up lol.i just wondered if u had an electron star and a proton star and u put the proton star next to the neutron star and had the elctron star orbitting them, wouldnt u have amde a huge atom of hydrogen?

>> No.1517408

>>1517403
if such a star existed (which it cant) in a sense you would have a hydrogen molecule.

>> No.1517414

>>1517403
No, it wouldn't be hydrogen (which has atomic number 1), it would be some atom with some astronomical atomic number.

No.
Not yours.

You can't have a giant deuterium atom because in an atom the electrons form clouds around the nucleus & what you're proposing is a lump of electrons orbiting a lump of protons.
This is why the capacitors in your compy don't act like atoms of hydrogen when you're channing.
