also, if you want to do some reading on the matter, Silverman's "A Friendly Introduction to Number Theory" is universally accessible (requiring very little from the reader except attentiveness) without being trivial (pretty much all the theorems of a basic intro to NT course are proved). another good complete beginner book is Stillwell's "Elements of Number Theory". if you want something more classical that's perhaps a tiny bit more difficult, Niven-Zuckerman is great

Abel didn't found shit, the only reason why we call abelian groups in his honour is that he studied abelian integrals and abelian varieties, which are projective varieties with a group structure that happens to be commutative
Also, it's not like she developed the theory alone and out of thin air. Dedekind had developed his theory of Dedekind rings a bit earlier, so for example they already had the notion of ideal. Also, she wrote Algebra with a bunch of people, I only remember Emil Artin (who btw is the one guy who made field/Galois theory the thing of beauty that it is today, the theorems were there but he found many more elegant proofs)
