The real value of IQ arises in contexts where we consider 2 different populations. Let's say 100 people with IQ's in the range [100,105] and 100 people with IQ's in range [90,95]. Now we are able to make meaningful predictions about behaviors, outcomes, achievements, etc when comparing between these two groups.

This point is often neglected or overlooked in discussions about IQ, but in my thinking, this is a far more productive way of seeing the matter.
