This. Plus a theory of everything is very likely impossible as the only things that can be posited by the theory are only things that have been directly observed. By it's nature the idea is limited entirely to human perception (augmentations in the manner of instruments include here) and therefore any such theory would be entirely incomplete as there are likely numerous things outside of human perception that have yet to even be imagined by cosmologists or any other investigators that may be concerned.

Again, not that it matters, but WIM is "Womens IM", which has same rating requirements as CM. That said, 2200 FIDE is still incredibly strong, and you basically need to devote a large portion of your time to studying/playing chess if you want to reach that rating.

IQ is a normalized ranking system. That is an IQ test is designed to give a test taker a score that is only meaningful relative to other test takers and the assignment of scores is designed/adjusted to fit a normal distribution. It's questionable as to whether or not the normal-range IQ tests actually represent intelligence. This is much like a normalized grading system in a university course may not actually represent the knowledge of a student immediately after completing the course. That of course, implies that these high-range IQ tests may have even less to do with intelligence than the normal ranged IQ tests.

That being said, contrary to the hype found in this thread. Langan is a loser. What has he done other than write a book and a couple of papers on virtually nothing? As for Rick Rosner, what has he done other than write smut for tv shows? He's also a loser. Neither of them have done anything meaningful with their alleged intelligence.

Compare either of them to someone like Faraday who, in spite of having little formal education and mostly self-educated, made significant contributions to both chemistry and electromagnetism, and hence furthered the development of human sciences and technology. If Langan is as intelligent of an autodidact as claimed, why hasn't he attempted to match this in his spare time. Surely someone who claims to have studied advanced mathematics in his spare time and spent a lot of time thinking about the nature of the universe can at least provide something tangible relevant to the fundamental theories of physics or solve a few difficult math problems that would yield publishable results that could lead to meaningful developments.
