it seems to just speak about any answer as if it is sure it's correct. in this case it tried to deisgn an experiment to prove if you were standing on a flat or round surface and convinced itself you can do it with one stick.
i assume it was trying to generate something like eratosthenes' two towers experiment, but because i asked for an experiment that could be done with no special equipment it got confused.
it seems to be a pattern that when it doesn't know something and has to guess, it will still present its answers with confidence.

"chatgpt" is just a complex search engine. you can prove this by asking it a simple question that isn't in its training set. it will spit out nonsense since it cannot actually reason and thus is unable to do mathematics (which is purely a priori deduction)
