>Boeing gets highest-ever ranking on DiversityInc’s Top 50
>Boeing moves up to No. 16 in recognition of its shared commitment and actions to create equity and inclusion for all.
>>“Equity, diversity and inclusion are vital to achieving better business outcomes, said David Calhoun, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are making progress, we are seeing how inclusion makes us stronger collectively, and we are resolute in our commitment to continue improving.”
>>“As we celebrate this recognition from DiversityInc. and the progress it represents, we also understand there’s so much more to do to ensure all teammates feel represented and included,” said Sara Bowen, Vice President, Global Equity, Diversity & Inclusion.

Yeah, lack of hiring on merit is a major problem with SLS. Congress wrote in that NASA had to reuse shuttle contractors and farm out the contracts to as many districts as possible to protect jerbs, regardless of their competence or the implications for vehicle design.
Not that /pol/ knows or cares.

Because I've been following SLS/aerospace developments and reading OIG reports for years. And if you're arguing "show X isn't a factor" then you have clearly have no evidence that X is a factor, which suggests that you're not raising X on the basis of, err, the merit of the case.

They would have to manrate it. We literally went over this already in the 1960s with Titan II, that's how NASA got formed because NACA and the Air Force couldn't agree on the definition of "man rated" so NACA took their ball and went home.

>which means these hires come at the expense of merit
Only if merit is some sort of mystical innate quality, 'pure' hiring is done mostly on merit, no other interventions exist, and that on-the-job training to adequate standards (like they did for WWII or most of the Apollo contractors) is impossible. And that every single team and division within the company is held to that standard.
Hell, the reason they're making SLS as a Frankensteined shuttle is politics, not its technical merit.
>because they're talking about going out of their way to hire more

Why don't they just stop giving unlimited money to Boeing lockmart grifters for SLS and buy a few hundred Falcon 9 launches instead. Of course we both know the answer.

Veterans are hired because they come with security clearance and a skillset for the defense industry. It's a ready-made population who already understands the material and who the government has (in the case of engineers and aviation technicians) already vetted and trained to a high standard of quality.

1) When SLS started SpaceX hadn't made orbit
2) SpaceX isn't publicly listed so congress can't invest before giving contracts
3) SpaceX doesn't employ 100k people across 45 states
>they're clearly way better than boeing and nasa
They dominate medium-lift with the Falcon 9, the Falcon 1 was so shit it only flew a few times as proof of concept, Falcon Heavy is a waste of time with fairings too small for it's payload capacity.
If BFR works they'll dominate super heavy and heavy but for now they can't get the Raptor 2 to stop running engine rich.

SpaceX doesn't have the capability yet. In the future they will probably be forced to cancel SLS and just contract SpaceX because of the massive cost difference, but that's at least a few years off.
We'll see a handful of SLS launches and then it will be taken out back, like Saturn.
