Would you take a nonfunctional, untested experimental medicine in order to be able to attend university science lectures?

https://www.uwo.ca/univsec/pdf/policies_procedures/section3/mapp311_covid19.pdf
>Western University will require all staff, students, faculty and visitors who wish to attend campus this September to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and to have received at least one booster, the university announced Monday afternoon. The updated policy will also require medical-grade face masks to be worn in all classrooms and seminar rooms.

The vaccine is less dangerous than covid, which is already a very minor risk if you're healthy. Vaccinination is highest amongst Asians, Whites and those with high income, while lowest amongst Blacks and Trump voters. If every major university, hospital and corporation is requiring vaccination, then it doesn't make sense for it to be a form of population control. Why would they kill off the most useful members of society and spare the retards? What would even be the mechanism for the vaccine being dangerous that doesn't also apply even more to covid itself?

The majority of the educated are useful idiots. If you're trying to control the world, it's absolutely worth killing, say, ten thousand useful idiots to eliminate one intelligent potential threat. Especially if you have a separate population of useful idiots who won't be affected by whatever you use to kill the ten thousand.

You can't buy time, bud. Clinical trials take around 5 years on average because that's how long it can take for problems with any substance to emerge. No amount of money or test subjects is a replacement for time. You can pat the science industry on the back for providing partial protection against covid once you have 5 years of excess hospitalization and death data between vaccinated and unvaccinated, stratified by age to show that a.) The vaccines didn't cause a myriad of unpredicted sequilae and b.) they didn't kill a bunch of young healthy people to save mainly old and dying people.

That is a) not the reason why they usually take so long and b) explain to me how any substance only injected once (or in this case, twice) would just not do anything and then after 5 years suddenly decide to do something unpredictable
And with an actual explanation, not your “well we just can’t be sure it won’t” chants that your cult has shouted for the past two years

The COVID vaccines were not different enough from other vaccines to be expected to cause different effects. This is like believing that, if Coca-cola comes out with a new flavor of soda, it'll kill you if you drink it, when none of their other flavors do.

Maybe you have a short or selective memory, but alt-right boards were just champing at the bit screaming that, very very soon, millions of vaccinated people were going to drop dead. And now you're telling us we have to wait five years. What's your plan when that time period is exhausted, and still nothing has happened? Revise it to 10 years? 20? 50...?

For that matter, what, exactly, is your criteria in which you base the significance of 5 years in the first place?

If you took an mRNA vaccine, here's basically what happened to your body:

1.) Trillions of mRNA particles modified surface proteins on millions of cells of all different types, giving them varying numbers of protein spikes
2.) Some of these cells lost their function (blood cells with the spike lose the ability to take on oxygen for example) we don't know, and currently have no way of knowing how different cells; functions are altered or lose their function
3.) The surface protein formation is the covid spike which bonds to the ace2 receptor of cells, what we know of the spike, besides triggering limited immunity (2 proteins out of about 80 surface proteins of the wuhan strain of the virus) is that it acts as a blood vessel irritant, causing inflammation in blood vessels and killing endothelial cells. This wasn't known at the time of the roll out.
4.) These cells have travelled all over your body
5.) These cells have been found in people up to 8 months after inoculation (not the two to three weeks we were told to expect initially)
6.) We don't know what they're doing in the meantime besides being a target for your immune system and irritating the lining of your blood vessels. Without longterm data, we can't know.
7.) ??????

We need data to prove the treatment is safe. We don't have it yet.

If you were first in line for the vaccine, the people injecting didn't know any of this, in fact, they had no way of knowing any of this. Odds are, if you are getting injected tomorrow, the healthcare professional (or walmart pharmacy tech) holding the needle won't know any of this either. They just know that the best course of action is to keep injecting you with the most dangerous part of the most deadliest strain of COVID to protect you from progressively milder strains of COVID.

Other vaccines use adjuvents to activate the immune system, the mrna and adenovector ones don't. Other vaccines also use toxioids (a dead virus or part of the virus) that aren't known to cause direct negative reactions with other cells in your body - as opposed to the covid spike. The mRNA vaccines are a different beast altogether because they use your own cells and modify their surface proteins, the immune response and outcome is much different from a covid infection, where the virus uses the cell to replicate itself and kills the cell in a very short time. A covid infection is dangerous, and deadly, but it doesn't leave a bunch of modified to wander around your body for months on end.

Animal experiments in mRNA have been ongoing since the 1960's. They've been used for cancer treatments for over a decade. No adverse effects have been found.

That's what I mean when I say that every part of the vaccine is understood because none of it is "new" aside from this specific type of combination and usage. If you understand the parts, you understand the whole. Yes, there might be some slight unexpected results, some differences in effectiveness compared to predictions.

But that doesn't mean there is any possibility it'll just suddenly up and kill people ten years down the road. That's idiotic and comes from people who don't understand science at all, who don't even know how their car engines work on a fundamental level.

>> No.14788126

>For that matter, what, exactly, is your criteria in which you base the significance of 5 years in the first place?

Because that's the course of a normal full length drug study - about 5 years. At the end, you tally up the control group and the trial group's reported side effects, hospitalizations, and illnesses and deaths and compare them and look for significant differences, this helps to highlight things you didn't account for and may have missed. Quite a few treatments have made it to that point before being pulled. A lot of issues in the body are chronic and systemic and slow to emerge. It's not like you take a trial drug and get cancer and heart disease and nerve damage instantly, or magically you're out of the woods in 6 months or something. That's not how medicine and biology work. People have developed cancer decades after being exposed to asbestos for instance. Besides that the heart risk from Vioxx wasn't discovered until the 5 year mark - because the mechanism was unknown, they found it by looking at excess hospitalizations and deaths and went back and did another study.

This just isn't true. There have been cancer studies with mrna vaccines. They haven't found viable treatments with them yet, and if there were failed studies with bad sides, its nbd because they're cancer patients who are going to die anyway and they likely signed an NDA - drug companies don't publish all of their data.

>That's what I mean when I say that every part of the vaccine is understood because none of it is "new" aside from this specific type of combination and usage.

You don't understand how it works. Clinical studies of new drugs focus first on safety, and then on effectiveness. If a drug is unsafe, it will be discovered very quickly. If it doesn't actually produce positive results compared to placebo, that is the part that takes many years.

It's interesting that you quoted Vioxx, when the study that showed an increase in cardiovascular issues took only 18 months. This was also a drug produced by a single company which knowingly falsified studies, and produced it for profit. The COVID vaccines were independently created by several organizations, and funded largely through taxpayers and government slush funds, offered to the public for free. They would have had nothing to gain by lying about whether or not it worked in the same way. This is two completely different things.

5 years is arbitrary - you're right. But it's acceptable because it's what's commonly used. This is the /sci/ board, not the philosophy board, it's about replication of existing proven methods - not their theoretical validity. I don't think billions of dollars and test subjects is a substitute for time, nor trumps industry standards - plenty of other scientists who approve of the vaccine rollouts (with hesitation and reservations) also think the same way.

If you want to get into arbitrary philosophy and anecdotes - I had set my own arbitrary standard for taking the vaccine, my cousin works public health in government and works for the second in line to the health minister and is a staunch vaccine advocate was pregnant and took her second dose even though there was no evidence supporting it was safe to take it in her second trimester. I said to myself, if her baby is perfectly healthy I'll take the vaccine and shut up. Her baby was born with intestinal bleeding. A few months later my other cousin who is a pharmacist and also a pfizer advocate also had a baby boy born with intestinal bleeding. Both children are healthy now, but hitherto, infant intestinal bleeding didn't run in my family - no one had heard of it, and to my knowledge is not -yet- listed as a possible side effect of the vaccine. So yeah, I'm waiting to see how all this pans out.

I'm not expecting some microchipped mass-die off zombie apocalypse like the schizos, but I think my concerns are valid.

You people arguing on the side of vaccines being created, implemented and used for nefarious reasons have to stop being stupid, realize what you are dealing with and expose it for what it is.

Your current tactic revolves around making objective fact-based arguments, sourcing data and studies and presenting it to the other side as if that other side.

Which would be exactly the thing to do if you were dealing with something exactly like yourself but you are obviously not.

How dumb is it to think that matter of facts means anything and is the center of attention when one side simply ignores facts as a phenomenon.

It's not like there is a discussion (in a true sense, not monkeys throwing poop at each other and making noises) about data. Data is solid. Data and facts are not the problem.

The problem and what you are dealing with is human. Emotion. Stratospheric levels of mental illness and evil. This is what you gotta work with and attack and expose, if you want to achieve anything.

Unless you want to keep throwing poop. Which wouldn't surprise me personally. I swear.

You people arguing on the side of vaccines being created, implemented and used for nefarious reasons have to stop being stupid, realize what you are dealing with and expose it for what it is.

Your current tactic revolves around making objective fact-based arguments, sourcing data and studies and presenting it to the other side.

Which would be exactly the thing to do if you were dealing with something exactly like yourself but you are obviously not.

Weird how those who claim that the vaccine is bad and evil and whatnot never post solid data. It's often some cherrypicked, or grossly misinterpreted data. Recently there was a guy who posted an article allegedly backing his point and in the first sentence his point was completely dismantled. "Don't look at that part, they interpret it wrong. Nothing that happens in such interactions counteracts, explains or even affects in any way the fact that your type ignores facts as a phenomenon. Which in turn doesn't mean that your type can't use facts to forward your agenda which is usually an ego based personal desire to "win an argument" or protect your twisted fragile emotional state. Of course there are more.

Because obviously any data presented to you is automatically "cherrypicked, or grossly misinterpreted" etc as is said in your own words. Absolutely baselessly and with no proof whatsoever.
And any piece of data presented BY you is automatically the holy grail.

To explain it more clearly -- you never look at the data presented to you, never read the studies (reading? God forbid) and definitely never attack the data (in other words the content) itself, just put a label on it and proceed with you usual program of personal attacks and ridicule and meaningless off-topic emotive rhetoric. The same goes for when you share your "holy grail" data. You never actually look into it in any detail, just put a label on it which your shepherd tells to and ditto.

As long as you blame problems on nebulous elites or conspiracies, you don't have to look at yourself or the people around you.

But if you admit that the problem is an ignorant, lazy population, then you start to see how things actually work, and why they aren't going to get fixed any time soon. It's very easy to blame somebody else, it's very hard to take responsibility yourself.
