Do the experiment yourself. Take a video of the spinning string from the top and figure out the radius the ball is spinning from the pixel distance in the video and the known diameter of the ball. This lets you figure out speed vs radius.

If it's the type of experiment where you're pulling the string in order to reduce the radius, the energy will not be conserved but the angular momentum very nearly will. Test your theory if you're going to mouth off about experiment.

I've been watching this argument on /sci/ for a while now and I keep wondering why nobody is actually calculating the increased air resistance (gets higher as your speed goes up) and figuring out just how much of a role that plays. Or why nobody is attempting to demonstrate the experiment in a vacuum with as reduced friction as possible.

This has got to be the most easily experimentally demonstrated thing I've seen people spaz about on /sci/ and yet it's always just words words words.
