https://home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/networks/radicalisation-awareness-network-ran/publications/far-right-extremists-use-humour-2021_en

Two researchers in Europe have published this document which says that certain forms of humor should be criminalized because
>humour that is directed against ethnic and sexual minorities is deemed to inspire violent fantasies and eventually action
The paper is well referenced, however that conclusion has no reference to support it. Page 7 shows examples of the variety of humor which should be banned
>(1) The original iteration of the Wojak meme expressed emotions such as melancholy, regret or loneliness. It has gradually been adapted and advanced by far-right meme culture to portray liberals with blank expressions. The aim here is to show that “normies” do not question the information that comes from mainstream press and politics.
>(2) The Doge meme is one of the most famous internet memes, which has been adapted in various ways to tease a kind of outdated humour and style of individuals and politicians. In far-right circles, it has often been combined with Nazi memorabilia to trivialise violence by the SS and Wehrmacht.
>(3) The Pepe the Frog meme has been appropriated by far-right online activists. It symbolises “a kind of superior nonchalance toward others, helping to normalize hostile attitudes toward minorities and political opponents” as well as “a kind of anti-elite arrogance and condescension” (12). It has become the icon of the alt-right.
Which makes up the majority of the image content on /sci/. So scientifically speaking, is /sci/ doomed to be eventually banned from the internet for h8s peach? Is there anything we can do about our unfortunate fate?

>meme has been appropriated by far-right online activists

I hate to even have to say this, because "teaching evil what it can do" is a real thing people should be more mindful of, but since OP isn't aware of this it needs saying I'll say it. They do this on purpose ... sometimes. They will appropriate things, for themselves, which they know other people like, just so they won't like the thing they like anymore. It's a kind of trolling or owning/stealing of their enemies stuff as well as claiming dibs on meme. They've forgotten about but use to do a lot a few years go. Amazing how short their memory is actually. However, with that said, if people start banning a dog whistle, that'll just prompt them to appropriate a new dog whistle. It's the same reason you don't assassinate the leader of a political faction or terrorist group. Removing the "thing" doesn't remove their need for the thing. Instead it just creates an empty space or vacuum that needs to be filled, and potentially creates a martyr in the process.

You think that the conspiracy is that a bunch of mid level bureaucrats and government employees are controlling the "deep state"?

Homie, it's ultra wealthy people whose finances aren't even on paper. Consider that the Saudi's fortune is in the hundreds of billions if not trillions. The list of worlds richest people is a farce, it is a list of people who have the highest stakes in publically traded corporations. Shadow wealth exists all over the globe, in the hands of financiers, the descendants of the 20th century barons and 19th century aristocracy, and in the hands of people who control energy.

Manipulation is ultimately done by groups of people comprised of this class of beyond wealthy shadow elites.

I don't really see doing a PhD preventing me from getting a wife or kids in a reasonable timeframe. I'll only be 27-29 by the time I graduate, and nothing prevents me from marrying during. Houses mostly rose due to inflation and low interest rates, same as equities. At worst it is a modest difference.

There are literally generals who take this shit seriously. I can only image being an underling in one of these scenarios trying to hold my shit together when trying to explain to a medal donning boomer why everyone on an image board is saying "mommy milkies, tendies pls". The only reason they keep taking this place seriously is because they're "supposed to be correct". Admitting you took a place as seriously as possible when it directly told you it never intended to be serious makes you the biggest fool in the entire collection. It's why Matt tried to "Kill Pepe", it's why they still to this day waste millions "studying" random posts. Manipulation at the societal scale is not proportional to 1/subjects^2 like it is at the local level.

Locally people get their opinions from their peers and the various forms of media, however their peers also get their opinions from their peers and the media. Once factoring in the transitive closure of manipulation through peers, the elites influence actually drops sublinearly with subjects rather than quadratically as it does locally when it contends with the network effect instead of riding it.

pepe is simply a canvas to convey emotions, the far-right has many emotions on many things, and they use pepe to convey them. but so do normies, have a look at twitch and the way in which pepe is used there. the most popular use of pepe on the right in my mind is the memes dating to trump's election. They are more like lazy DMs who defer to presets whenever possible and when under threat of having to think critically deploy tactics such as "the spirit of the law" and "you know it when you see it"

>Take, for example, Dr Richard Dawkins, who is a generation companion of mine. His theory of "memes" is based entirely on an inability to tell the difference between a computer program and a computer virus - between an organizing principle and an entropic dissolving force.
>He began by believing that everything in nature happens by chance, without finality or purpose. So far, so good: it is a theory like any other. But then media glory went to his head and he began to think that he could also explain everything that happens in the field of history and human action by random, meaningless processes.
>Memes are nothing more than that: they are units of information, without any special meaning in themselves, which spread and dominate entire societies simply because they do. Chartres Cathedral and the Brandenburg Concertos, in short, were built by the same methods as Hurricane Katrina or a traffic accident.
>To believe this presupposed, from the outset, giving up all difference between having an explanation and having none. At the same time, it was forbidden to apply the memetic theory to itself: whoever said that it was only a computer virus arising by chance in a malfunctioning mind automatically became a fanatic, a reprobate, an antisocial being unworthy to take part in such high-level discussions.

>> No.14761088

>>14761075
>Since, at the same time that Dr. Dawkins was thinking these things, computer viruses were actually spreading around the world, and the proliferation of meaningless information turned the Internet into a savage jungle in which one can only orient oneself by means of a certain instinctive capacity to refuse attention to practically everything, it is clear that many processes of dissemination of ideas in the world began to copy almost literally the proliferation of computer viruses, that is, the dissolution of a small nucleus of organizing information in an ocean of stultifying irrelevance.
>Once the science or pseudo-science of "memetics", which Dr Dawkins created to describe these processes, was established as an academic discipline, the temptation became irresistible to apply it to the entire past history of the human species, explaining the progress of knowledge since the time of Neanderthal man by the same causes that today spread collective stupidity, i.e., by completely eliminating the distinction between knowledge and ignorance, between intelligence and stupidity.
>I have no doubt that memetics serves to describe, for example, the intellectual evolution of Dr Dawkins himself, culminating in the mental self-castration that incapacitates him for third and even second degree abstractions. Asked as to the origin of life, he replied that probably the germs of life were brought by extraplanetary travellers. Even restraining, out of a sense of respect, any ill impulse to joke about the theory of astronaut gods, it is impossible not to notice that the answer requires a pathetic inability to distinguish between the general scheme "life" and the concrete incarnations of that scheme on Earth - a difference that any normal child instinctively perceives.
.

>> No.14761093

>>14761088
>After all, for the germs of life to be brought into existence, they had to exist, and to ask about the origin of life is obviously to ask how they came into existence, not who transported them from one place to another. This does not exactly come across as a subtlety, but, for Dr Dawkins, it had become an unapprehensible abstraction. For a man with superior scientific training to stoop to this point, and for his audience of students to miss the vexation, it really took an astonishing amount of memes to spread through their respective brains, blinding them even to the good old Aristotelian distinction between a bodily entity and its intelligible form, a distinction without which it is difficult to grasp the difference between medicine and package insert, between food and menu, or between shoe and shoe number.
>That this is a cognitive tragedy without precedent in human history, and that the socio-historical consequences of its planetary dissemination risk being the most devastating, are two observations that discourage any vehemence in making fun of it

Here's the better take you are begging for:

Sad icons allow master mind controllers talk about useful hidden truths without inspiring those that talk to take effect and hard to control actions. (You don't see very many knights, Gods or Kings on a board that supposedly wants people to do violence, do you? THAT is how you know this whole place is a setup.) It's the dupes who come here thinking the average 4channer knows shit about shit who never recover. It's also why deplatforming is the preferred method of suppressing truths.

For Example: Some artist who plays on this board needs to draw a proper knight. Could be a knight Templar or a rogue knight. It must be a tall, imposing figure with a full suit of armor, long sword and shield with a crest on it. Post this character around the web with inspirational messages such as: "A little hard work each day adds up to excellence in one's personal life." "Never underestimate an enemy who is jealous of your existence." "You wouldn't challenge the Devil and win without Jesus. Don't challenge a sinner and expect to win without speaking the world of God."

Rereading the post in question, it's not a particularly good complex idea, but it's coherent. The poster knew what he was trying to say and he said it, but you didn't have the attention span to hear it. This should either worry you, or serve as evidence that you don't really belong somewhere like this, where people share complex ideas.
