The people talking about biblically accurate angels aren't actually interested in the bible, they're just wheelniggers who think the weird description of one angel having wheels with eyes is cool, and that it would be cool if all angels in the bible were like that and nobody knew this except for them. They like the idea of everyone being wrong about something, especially religious people, but they get all their knowledge from memes made by other wheelniggers.

Absolutely. Unironically I've been reading Plato and one surprising thing I found had been the difficulty in accurately communicating the meaning of different ideas, given the significant divergence between contemporary colloquial use of various terminology and the specific meaning suggested by the terms. For instance, "virtue" I found to be complicated, because I think today people associate the word with a peculiar type of moral agency, i.e to be "virtuous" is to be a "good person," or more simply to have the right opinions. I suppose it might also be a failure of translation in using that word rather than perhaps another, but I think virtue has another meaning that is also true to the spirit of the word yet not really comprehended colloquially. As a tangent I also think historically in specifically English usage this is what the word meant, and I suppose it's been lost today, but the specific platonic interpretation of the word in my opinion is the art or practice of good living. This particular definition I think is much less closely associated with the type of moral agency implied in contemporary use of the word. Anyway it's an interesting topic, not a huge point or anything but its something I found with discussing some of the ideas with other people.

Is "language shape thought" the discredited Sapir Whorf hypothesis that has been unwittingly picked up by leftists who want to impose a new gender neutral language and create terms like "latinx"?

Platos cave is an analogy of what happens when the unenlightened can't comprehend the difference between description and explanation and how the world does not work dependent on how we describe it. The shadows they describe, or are described to the prisoners as "horse, ring/ whatever the shape LOOKS LIKE" isn't the actual explanation as to what the really are. It's to illustrate how easy it is to confuse the human mind despite the fact we have a plethora of senses and the means to at the very least look for "the truth" and that we shouldn't rely on senses alone.

>>14697806
>>14698521
Language does NOT shape though, it confuses and complexes thought. They always refereed to "the one" as simplistic as possible, desperately not trying to elaborate or go into great details. The devils in the details and more and more of them confuse and delude the big picture. To do, "to be" to actually practice philosophy instead of preaching it is what actual philosophy is. A way of living and dying.

You cannot think your way out of a box you thought yourself into.

They're not accessing it though. I'm glad it's available to them and that at any point any one of them could pick up a book and actually learn what the thing they're repeating the name of actually means beyond the 3-word slogan they got from a TikTok caption. But none of them do that and because they're surrounded by people with the same non-knowledge as themselves they feel like they'll never need to.

The example I replied to shows how easily information is just lost using language. With no word to describe or illustrate what you mean or feel...the feeling doesn't just go away too. You simply can't convey it to others or...you invent a way to do so (such as inventing a word). Or you use a word that already exists, giving it both a connotative and denotative meaning. That meaning it the most susceptible to be lost to time because the "feeling" it conveys in using the word will not be the same through history and when historians go back to translate the word they'll only be able to get the literal meaning out of it.
"Bet?"
As this anon >>14698266 puts it, it's the human mind that forms the languages we use in the first place. Sure it can be used to limit peoples ability to express what they think and feel to others...but what does that really matter? It's still just a way to express thought, but no means of simplifying it or even creating it.

Now how is one supposed to think? It's not imply a matter of "just thinking", just sharing random thoughts, in whatever language it doesn't matter. You already have this, it's called the internet and still most of what's said on it makes no sense and should not be taken seriously.

>>14699649

Any language makes no sense unless you know how to translate it. The difference is that the words from languages that come from actual cultures usually refer to something that's rea and not simply made up for the purpose of expurgating other words and languages.

Very few people actually read primary sources. It is very frustrating if you do have genuine interest in a topic and then you see a bunch of midwits parrot it with no understanding because they saw a popular youtube video essay or tiktok video, but you should always use that opportunity to question them on further detail and watch them flounder as they never actually engaged with the material they're referencing and it becomes clear they are brainlets.

Make it look engaging from a distance. I.e interesting graphics or highlighted /promise of return/. A big "...in conclusion..." is guaranteed to lure more spectators than an interesting than a big topical title.
