isnt that cheating

no
think of it as a 3d shadow of a 4d object

>> No.14657828

It is cheating, you can't portray a 2d version of a 4d object any more than you can portray a 1d version of a 3d object. You need to actually construct one in 3D and set it on your table to pproperly understand it

the 4th dimension is time

Time is fake and gay.

No such thing as 3d shadow. Shadow is inherently 2d.

Shadows are 3d but you know damn well that ahadow is taken to mean a projection from N to N-1 dimension you pedantic brainlet.

>Shadows have properties

They are dimensionless, namely because they don't exist.

The 4th dimension in this example is a hypothetical 4th spatial dimension, not time.

"Cheating" at what? that is an animated representation of a 3d model of a 4d geometric object.
(cool gif by the way)

imagine using your fingertip to pick up a square (2D) by its edge, you can balance it if you're careful.
now imagine that the 2D quare was actually a 3D cube, but you were somehow blind to the 'depth' that is 'behind' the square. when you go again to try and pick up the cube that you can only see as a square, you can no longer balance the square's edge on your fingertip. it will fall over everytime since almost all of the object's mass is now 'behind' the square from which you're trying to balance the entire object.

NOW

imagine trying to hold a cube (3D)
easy, right? you just wrap your hands around it
but when the cube becomes 4D merely wrapping your hands around the 3D projection of it is not enough to 'hold' it anymore.
you'll simply experience this object slipping out of your hands as it falls out of balance no matter how you try to wrap your 3D hands around it. and even when you do find the 4D center of mass of the object, you'll have to keep reacting to it still falling out of balance.

this is because 3D hands holding a 4D object is like trying to balance a 3D object on a 2D string.

oh wait, a string is 1D. whatever i think you bros get what im tryin gto say

It's not cheating until you get to higher dimensional packing.

time is a 4th spatial dimension, it's our lack of the corresponding apparatuses that give it its distinctly temporal feel.

you can build a cube out of a single string
