Criminology is a scientific field which gets ignored by most STEMfags because the people who do research in the field are often far outside of traditional academia. The FBI, people who tabulate insurance rates, people who sell security systems and a lot of other non academic groups do criminology research. Everyone is an amateur criminologist, avoiding being victimized demands it. A lifetime worth of effort in any field of science can be cut short and destroyed by criminal activity, nobody neglects that risk completely. So its unfortunate that important and relevant scientific statistics are being intentionally withheld when they were formerly share with the pubic.
ITT: Discuss the science of criminology and how it can be used as a form of life extension when criminology information is applied to IRL decision making.

I studied criminology and basically after everything you study the conclusion is extremely obvious: People do crime because they are in a situation where the risks seems worth it. To make people to less crime you increase the risk or you better their situation. Thats basically 90% of all crime, the rest is more related to emotional outbursts

the overall racial variation and angle is massively overplayed when you account for socio-economic factors. Never mind the fact that large amount of white collar criminals never get caught, and the fact that the elite decide what is criminal so naturally it is in their advantage

Overall, criminology is really fun to study because its like a more measurable form of psychology, but in the end most answers are incredibly obvious. Like broken window theory, social theory, and CPTED are logical solutions even a child would come up with.

Is this quantifiable? I cannot find any data that is broken down by both race and socio-economic status.

> when you account for socio-economic factors
no, wrong.
not even poor whites (or other non black / sandpeople races) commit as much crime as the darkies

is socio economic situation an excuse for criminal behaviour or perhaps justification?
a la: "i had to shoot this dude in an armed robbery because im POOR, boo hooo cry for me"

... clearly not!
then why make excuses for people that are not even of your kind? why defend criminals?
you are not a criminal so why would you invest the effort to defend unlawful and destructive behaviour in some online hamster wrestling symposion?

poor whites don't go to jail as much for crimes, which is vastly different than committing as much crime

>poor whites don't go to jail as much for crimes
... because in proportion they are not as criminal and their offenses are of lighter nature
>which is vastly different than committing as much crime
now bring in magnitude into the equation
stealing apples or drunk driving is of different severity than sexual assault or murder

do we have to pull out the crime statistics from when FBI gave those by race to figure out on which factor blacks are overrepresented in violent crime over others?

Source? Also this is /sci/. We have no time to waste on blatant race baiting threads like this. Stick to
