Of course it would mean that if you have reality completely topsy-turvy to what is actual... Same with people who believe in ESP and ghosts, who have weird assumptions about what the total inversion of reality from the instinctual view of it would mean. E.g. if things are made of "consciousness" why can't I walk through walls? It's a person still operating within the way we are wired to see reality.

See you think the brain produces things (like conversations with God) because you haven't completed the total inversion. The full way round, the brain is what person-ing (etc) looks like from third person. Like a computer GUI, when you move icons around the icons are representations of the underlying reality of the computer... Same with things like drugs and brains, it's exactly like that.

Because it doesn't support "materialism" in any way. If one was so inclined, they could easily argue that the drug interfereces with a biological nerfing mechanism that prevents you from tuning into something that's always there. The idea that the drug is causing the brain to generate the experience from scratch (or from normal sense inputs) is unprovable.
