I got into the college I wanted to get into (McGill), but everybody applies to colleges above what they know they'll get into.

pretty sure that in the UK all applications are void of racial indicators. you do submit a separate form to the governing body stating your race optionally.

it doesnt stop my uni from having an tiny minority of black/arab ~(been here five years, seen 4 so far). the rest are white/asain.

and even then the vast majority are middle class/upper class, they go because they can afford it. most of them are /palmface grade stupid on a daily basis.

Alot of butthurt MIT rejects ITT. The myth of a black guy getting into MIT with a 1100 is absolute bullshit. If it were true, MIT would be filled with niggers. MIT - or any of the ivies + Stanford, hardly accept people with way below average credentials, unless your parents are 10% of the schools grant (or can be).

How do I know? Because I am a black student with a 3.7/4.0 GPA, 33/36 ACT and 2250/2400 SAT, and I got rejected from MIT, and I am still butthurt about it.

Well you are in Canada land. In America, after you meet the basic credentials (3.8, 2200 SAT, lots of leadership activities and clubs) they look for Y UR SPECAL. You have to be "more special" on top of stellar grades and millions of extra currics. How does one do that? Either win an Intel competition or claim to be a minority. Since youd have to start researching in 8th grade to have a 1% chance at winning, you probably realize saying you are a minority is alot easier in America.

I'm a big confused about the scale of scores. I never knew of anyone who got a 1100 on the SAT, and even 1550 was pretty dismal when I was in HS. and I went to public school even. (In Texas, and 75% of our school was Hispanic)
That said, I think affirmative action and equal opportunities should be based on income rather than race. I can respect someone who came from a shitty neighborhood and worked hard, but to divide it up by race is wrong when a white student working hard in the slums can get less money than a black student who screws around in HS and comes from a wealthier family.
I knew a guy with a shitty GPA whose parents were both doctors and owned two large houses, yet he got a full ride to Auburn on a Hispanic scholarship because his mother was Argentinian. (Auburn is a shitty school anyway, but you see what I'm saying)
