where can I find math & science textbooks online for free (torrents, pdfs, etc)? I don't care much for solutions...

I'm looking for intro courses, but recent editions, as in 2010. I am needing linear algebra, probability, statistics, and biology. I honestly don't have $400 to shell out for these textbooks.

>> No.1421104

Go to the fucking library and take out some books.

My university's library has tons of textbooks by school policy, but you can check them out for 2 hours max. or some shit like that. It's also not very convenient when I want to do hw late at night.

Gigapedia, Bibliotek
Id give you a bibliotek invite but the last faggot I invited on /sci/ has a 0 ration and 35 megs up (which is alot for ebooks)

I'll check out Gigapedia then

If you could just go to a library and check out textbooks then nobody would buy them retard

Usually they only have one or two copies so you can't take them out of the library.

I used this concept to my advantage in college, in many classes the exams were curved so my classmates were technically competition. In some classes a significant percentage of the class didn't buy the textbook and depended on the library, so I would just go to the library and hide the textbook a day or two before exams. Presto changeo there goes 1/3 of my competition.

Use the library.

Why? I legitimately don't have money for these textbooks. They're not even great textbooks I would like to keep for my major.

i wish i could hide them but they're behind the front desk and you have to request them

PROTIP: none of those subjects has changed at all in at least 100 years (at the introductory level anyway). gb2 B&N and get Dover copies of older textbooks for all 3 subjects for < $25 total.

I know that. But if I get problem sets, the pagination is going to be really off and the problems will probably be in a different order. I'm not going to depend on having friends in the class (school's really huge).

For example, the probability book I need is in its EIGHTH edition.

>> No.1421204

you could just buy the books scan the problem pages and return them (if they dont come with a gay cd that prevents return)

It was entry level biology, just saying you couldn't take it as a freshman. I don't think there were any biology classes at my school that freshman could take.

>> No.1421209

Well I found out that my probability book is on the shelf at the library instead of behind the desk. There are two copies so I won't feel too bad about "borrowing" it.

i made cash/beer every quarter at book buying time.

went to library with camera+tripod and took pictures of every page of the books I needed, really doesn't take very long. wrote a simple program to compile them into single PDFs. left email address in book, saying 5 bucks or 6 pack of beer gets digital copy. fukkin profit, also made several friends this way.
