Lets have a discussion on global warming. What are your current thoughts on the global warming debate? Is the threat real? How do we make changes to stop it?

>Implying human history of industry (give or take maybe 200 or so years) has any effect on the scale of which volcanoes/other forms of carbon dioxide caused naturally for billions of years has any effect whatsoever.

Eh, I'm indifferent.

>> No.1389265

is it real?

not really, its natural climate change, its SO FUCKING EXAGGERATED.

are humans the cause of it? there is about a quadrillion tons of air on earth and humans are less than 1 percent of it over the entire industrial era and now.

Thankfully we have quite a bit more than a quadrillion tons of air, since at our current human emissions of 0.03 quadrillion tons, we'd be long dead from CO2 poisoning.

famous scientists from non-relevant fields:
>DURR DERP IT AIN'T REAL BELIEVE ME CUZ AM FAMOUS

mostly non-famous, but published scientists from relevant fields:
>It's real, you just need to look at the facts without falling to the cherry-picking trap

And that's what it's all about!

global warming from human industrial activities is a hoax and it's aims are cap and trade and carbon tax. if you look at actual data from solar activity the sun is going through a hot phase. the heavy ion out put from it has gone up steadily in the past 20 years, and this means it is burning more helium, which means it is burning hotter. so the earth is getting more energy, thus making it warmer. the sun goes through cylces like this, why? i do not know, i would gander it has to do with it's own internal currents and how that effects its nuclear reactions. point being, it is not our fault.

denying global warming is a hoax, perpetrated by lobbyists who seek to ensure fast profits now in spite of any future calamity

>> No.1389384

are there any credible sources that support the view that global warming has been exaggerated or that it is false? I have been looking into the topic and cant find any credible arguments against it.

i am not saying that we should continue to use fossil fuls, in fat, ti is outdated and worthless. solar energy and windturbines and even the new solar tower they plan to build in arizona are more than worthy alternatives. the problem is that our country is too concerned in making it a popular and cool thing to be green than to actually do it. i mean, al gore blah blah blah, but he still flies in a fucking private jet and has a limo, yet promotes this green shit. that is the problem, everyone thinks it should be some one else that has to go green while they contribute more than anyone else in teh form of their carbon foot print. so, my life style does not contribute to global warming, al gore' does, and my self being taxed over his fucking shit is unjust and bullshit.

The threat is real, we won't make changes to stop it, we'll adapt as best we can. "Adaptation" here could include massive famines, economic collapse, wars, etc.

Do you know why people are trying to make green popular?

Because most people in the US are so set in their ways and looking back at the golden age of the fifties when everyone drove cars the size of a zeppelins and no-one had to worry about anything else but the gosh darn commies. The way things are, most of the current population is probably lost, but there's still the kids that can be influenced. Maybe if we make green thought popular enough now, the kids will, when grown up, have enough strength of will to REALLY do something about it.

>> No.1389493

Real
We shouldn't bother trying to make changes because it's going to happen anyways.

>> No.1389510

>>1389493
Possibly this. Some countries are already turning from prevention to mitigation.

>> No.1389549

I think it's a problem, and that we are driving it to a significant degree. I'm not sure how bad it will be, but we should try to stop fucking up the climate, and take the opportunity to improve our technology at the same time.
