Hey /sci/

What's up with time?

Is is just the way we view the universe? Is it just an illusion? Is time travel possibe?

I'll take the liberty of answering that last one

Ask questions which can be answered in this very forum. Not something hundreds of people have thought about for their whole lifes.

I am speechless

You just proved time travel. There is not other possible way you could correctly guessed you own post number. I mean, the integers are infinite, and thus randomly selecting the correct one was infinitely improbably. Thus, the only answer is time travel.

You're traveling through time right now.

Going backwards is a different story.
Right now the universe is expanding and cooling (increasing entropy).

To go back in time, you would have to shrink and heat the universe (decrease entropy). However that would require more energy to do than exists in the universe.

QED time travel backwards is impossible.

Time is real, not an illusion. It is also relative, (the faster you are going, the slower time, etc.). Time travel is theoretically possible. Time also depends on how fast our brain is processing information, the faster, the slower time appears to be, although that is considered the psychological arrow of time. You can also think of time as the increase of entropy, which is always increasing. If entropy were to decrease, you would see broken cups come back into whole ones, weird stuff like that.

There is no such thing as time.

Time is an illusion; Lunchtime, doubly so.

Time is not tangible but is observable. It also has many different interpretations. But going by what humans have traditionally defined time as, it is real.
