It seems to be a relatively recent development on /sci/, and personally I think that it's because most of the inhabitants here are as much scientists (or even truly educated and informed) as the troglodites on /fit/ are actual bodybuilders and understanding of actual fitness -- which is to say, they are *not*. Engineers on the other hand have actual working knowledge of things, and we can't have that here, can we?

basically when sci started going to shit (ie: two weeks after its creation), there was a guy that kept posting pictures of gays with texts like "engineer pride" and so on. So basically it was a forced meme, the same guy kept posting everyday like hundreds of gay pics, and so the summer kiddies or all the other trolls now also post or say gay stuff about engineers.
