Hey /sci/, 17 year old High School Junior here.

I've always wanted to be a Marine Biologist, but recently I've become more aware of the amount of basic suffering, both Human and non-human, that there is in the world. Morally, I can't take up a major in college or job in RL if it isn't helping to alleviate this insane amount of suffering present in the world.

So, what should I major in at college that will best prepare me or allow me to alleviate this suffering?

Marine Biology is an important field, because our oceans supply a great deal of the world's food. If the oceans die, there will be a great deal of suffering in result. Think about that.
