>Be NASA
>Has to be the best use of taxpayers money.
>Let`s launch a mission to a piece of rock that has just entered the solar system and it will be never seen again in a couple of months: YESSSS SWEET!
>Let`s launch another satellite that will give us redundant information of things we already know: NICE!
>Let`s build slowly a Moon base, sending every couple of years a habitat to the Moon. NOOOOO that is too expensive and difficult!!!
>But we can send robots to build it, and then send humans! NOOOOO robots are too difficult!
>But we send robots to Mars already! Noo those are different robots!

NASA everybody.

After Apollo NASA shifted from being a space exploration agency to a jobs retainment agency. Every blunder of theirs since then can easily be explained by this

i know i cant educate you but ill try anyway.

first, sending humans into outer space is way expensive. massively expensive. and risky. very, very risky.

sending robots up to do science jobs is cheap and low risk. you lose a robot, you don't lose any lives.

ppl forget that no other fucking nation on the planet does shit at the level of nasa. how many other nations sent up a hubble space telescope? no one. the iss started out as a purely nasa thing and then was branched out when it became clear itd be too expensive to maintain. space shuttle was pure nasa and it was supposedly one of the factors that bankrupted the ussr when they tried to duplicate it.

nasa just landed a nuclear-powered robot the size of a car onto another planet exactly where they wanted the fucking thing. it's part of a multi-mission effort to bring mars samples back to earth. and that multi-phase mission, combined, will be shit-tons cheaper and less dangerous than a manned mission to mars.

yes, nasa can be full of fuck (forced shit bc of political assholes stressing dollars over quality) but when you let nasa just be nasa, they do a lot of good stuff.

Send one habitat to the Moon every couple of years, just one, is one way trip.
Send robots to do the building and exploration.
Send humans when things are ready as well as they can be.
There, is not that difficult, and they had 50 years, half a fucking century.

there's more scientific value for the rock chaser. A moonbase would also be more expensive.

>good stuff

What is good about this that isnt good about star trek? Why do we need to spend billions on something as dead end as space exploration while there is still starvation and poverty. How the fuck does the hubble telescope help anybody except scientists mentally masturbate.

This is not reddit, we cannot upvote your virtue signalling.
Go and use your money and time to help the poor starving people and leave us alone.
