Doesn't matter if your candidate wins, that gets you on the track to work other political jobs.
It's an entire whole secret career path that's pretty boring and potentially involves a lot of committee-style work and bullshit, but pays well (because the person you're helping to steal from the public trough will pay you some to keep you quiet).
