Dark ambient. I don't know why it always gets put at the bottom of those "music iceberg" images; I find it immensely relaxing and great for focus.

It's pretty cool and I've actually listened to this album before, and I like it a lot. I'll give it another listen right now though.

also based... but it has a slightly less energetic spirit. Probably less distracting and more suited for study compared to my marches.

Don't know if there's anything to the whole "synchronizes brain waves" junk but I do find this type of music as both easy to ignore and a way of blocking out other environmental noises.

70s Tangerine Dream is good. It's mellow enough not to be distracting, but still has enough going on to be interesting. Phaedra, Rubycon, Ricochet, and Encore are my favorites. Klaus Schulze has released some pretty good albums in that same style too. Even some of the modern stuff is good. Check out Timewind and Kontinuum.

Lovely tracks, unfortunate name. I was bracing for the worst because of my mental association with synthwave.

What's wrong with synthwave?

A lot of it feels like it's just imitating something else rather than having a style of its own. I've listened to a few synthwave artists and I've only found a couple that produced interesting stuff.
