It doesn't. The DSM-5 uses a list of diagnostic criteria to classify mental illnesses. Gender dysphoria is categorized via a certain list of symptoms. When a person undergoes gender transition treatment, psychiatrists recognize trannies have fewer symptoms of gender dysphoria, few enough to conclude that they no longer suffer from gender dysphoria.

The way the DSM works, and has always worked, is via positive assignment of illness. It doesn't say what cures such illness. Merely, it says whether the categorical diagnostic criteria are no longer existent.

Yet the paper keeps referencing his gender dysphoric disorder. Don't confuse the fever with the cold. One is a symptom, the other is the illness.
A gay man could have gender dysphoria, a schizo can have that. That is the list they are going through. Does this make sense?

No, they are not. If a cold gives you a fever, that does not mean you don't have the cold, but have "the fever."
In fact, they even noted an inconsistency, which is that pimozide sedated Mr. A, which is a side effect often happens with people who do not benefit from it. They argued that the sedation was not the primary cause of treating his gender dysphoria so I assume it's the anti-psychotic effects.

Said it was likely transsexualism because the patient was "expressing the strong conviction, dating from BEFORE puberty, of being female" and that "his cross-dressing was not accompanied by sexual arousal and was consistent with being part of the process of expressing his preferred gender, it is likely that the nature of the gender dysphoric disorder was transsexualism."

They had even no argument against this specific diagnosis while they weakened every other diagnosis, including monosymptomatic delusion. Transsexualism and transgenderism envelope a large aspect of mental illnesses that present themselves with a gender-sex misalignment, including monosymptomatic delusions. If they present themselves as a form of psychosis, then that tells us that anti-psychotic medications would work best.
Now this paper is just a case study, and that is why I said we need more research. As far as we know, 90% of trannies could be a result of similar delusions, but I said what my preferred treatment is.
