I was on benzos for 8 years, hardest thing I ever overcame. I started taking them for mild depression / sleep problems and in the end they caused me incredible anxiety, still have problems sitting at a table with people and I stopped taking them 5 years ago. For my brain to return to normal after the benzos it took about 2.5 years and I had to taper down for 6 months and I was on a very low dose of 1mg klonopin (the smallest dose is. 5) so I would really give you this advice: don't take benzos, and if you must, like 1 day a week when you are really struggling. Taking benzos is the greatest feeling, instant satisfaction, instant feeling of calmness/completeness / no worries, everything is good, and it will turn you into the most anxious, dreadful, just crazy ass shit ever. Just do a quick Google search "benzo withdrawals" and inform yourself, i Literally did a 6 month taper from a low dose and it still took 2.5 years to feel "normal". Don't take benzos, trust me.

And he probably prescribed the benzo to adjust to the antidepressants, so maybe you need it while you're brain adjusts, but inform yourself and only take them when you absolutely need them.
