With the rapid progress of Starship should Spacex even bother hoping Superheavy? Why waste time with piddly little hops when they could launch hundreds of starlink sats, test full reentry, and get hoverslam practice without wasting prototypes with meaningless hovers? I'm sure they still will do hops just because getting all the systems in place to stack the full rocket is going to take time but by this point going up 150 meters doesn't satisfy like it used to.

because they actually are. SpaceX strives to cut costs-sometimes you can't.

>Cost drove lots of decisions, even how the company built its rockets. Once Musk got wind that the air conditioning system used to keep the satellite cool in the rocket’s fairing, or nose cone, was going to cost more than $3 million, he confronted the designer about it.

>“What’s the volume in the fairing?” he wanted to know. The answer: less than that of a house.

>He turned to Shotwell and asked her how much a new air-conditioning system for a house cost.

>“We just changed our air-conditioning,” she replied. “It was six thousand bucks.”

>“Why is this $3 or $4 million when your air conditioning system is $6,000?” he asked. “Go back and figure this out.”

>The company did, buying six commercial A/C units with bigger pumps that could handle a larger airflow.

Fairings are crazy complicated - they need pressure management, temperature management, enough strength to stand up to a rocket accelerating to orbit, and to also be lightweight. Falcon 9/Heavy fairings are the one place they use Al-Li composites with the same degree of autism as oldspace, because you can't really avoid it for a discard-in-flight fairing.

Only the cargo launch variant of Starship will have fairings at all, and that'll just be part of the nose on a hinge.

Moonship's legs basically seem like an evolution of the ITS leg. It's probably never practical to have such huge giant legs when you're considering mass constraints.
Most of the renders don't show them at full extension either, they look like they'll be much longer when fully out.

This system actually makes a lot of sense. I've seen some madlad from a local diy rocket forum building something similar for his engine years ago. Don't know why it's not used anywhere, maybe it becomes too bulky for the flow rates larger engines take.

Many Boomers spent most of their adult lives performing no written communication outside of work, taxes, bills, etc. and the occasional letter. Their writing skills are accordingly atrophied, and so they tend to type in ways that map more literally to how you'd do emphasis in speech. On the other hand, 4chan shut-ins spend more time communicating via text than via speech, so it's more natural.

Are you guys serious about actually wanting to fuck Starship? What the hell is wrong with you? Why would anyone actually want to take a Starship to bed, lie atop her and run your hands over her body, feeling the smooth steel and tiny bump of every weld caress your hand, harder than your own skin, yet smooth and glassy, and feel her breath against your face as she watches you touch her, knowing what's to come.
Why would anyone in their right mind want to line up your erect cock with her steel pussy between her beautifully arranged cluster of Raptor engines, already quivering with excitement and slowly slip inside her, watching the look of pure ecstasy spread across her shiny steel face, so exotic yet comfortingly familiar, as her eyes narrow and her mouth opens as a moan of pleasure escapes her RCS thrusters and she wraps her flaps around you, enveloping you in her cold, metallic embrace. You can't seriously want to feel her gridfins grip around your back and she holds on to you, letting you know you are hers and she is yours as you slowly thrust into her, back and forth, picking up speed as you both make louder and more raw engine roars. Her breathing quickens and her hull stretches nearly to the popping point point, her grid fins wrap around your body, making you to thrust deeper into her as her tight raptor engines vibrating with pleasure, clamping down on your cock, sending you over the edge and quickly bringing an orgasm of your own. The pleasure overtakes you until you can't hold back and with a final thrust, empty your balls deep into the Starship below you who's writhing in shuddering ecstasy of her own. Eventually it subsides and she reaches up, licking a bead of sweat off your neck, then nuzzles her face against yours as you both regain your breath.

The SpaceX Raptor engines have never done a full duration burn but that isn't a huge deal because they are constantly changing the engine design anyway and feel confident they can make it work.
SLS not doing a full duration burn is a big deal because they have had over a decade and $16b claiming the whole time it would work fine first try. The SLS burn was basically their chance to show that despite being slow and expensive at least it works, but it doesn't.
