1258833 No.1258833 [Reply] [Original]

why is there anything?

why is there energy/matter/time?

i believe there MUST be a reason, it would not make sense for the universe to exist for no reason.

Why must there be a reason?

Why? We live in a Matrix, when we die, we will se the real world and find the reason for everything.
Happy?

ok replace "reason" with "cause" faggot

what CAUSED the universe to happen

how do you go from nothing to something

Insulting others is definitely how you get answers, kid.

The great thing about science is that you get to say, "we don't really know just yet", instead of making up bullshit. So in answer to your question, "we don't really know just yet".

it must have started, the big bang theory is a good example.

The Big Bang theory doesn't suggest a beginning and an end and it certainly doesn't say that there was nothing in the beginning.

I like it when people talk about stuff they actually know the definition for. Therefore, I like you.

What theory have you been reading about. Whatever, heard of that one theory where they belive that the Universe is expanding and when it reaches a limit it will implode, and after that, it will expand again? Then something have to trigger that cause. Right?

no, im not talking about the big bang. you're not thinking outside the box enough

for the big bang to happen, the laws of physics had to exist and matter and energy had to exist

im not saying "WHEN WAS THE UNIVERSE FULL OF EMPTY SPACE", because even if the universe were empty, the operations of physics would still exist.

im asking why does the universe exist, not, why is there matter in the universe

Because it does. There is no reason, that's the way shit played out, stop trying to give a natural process a meaning.

>> No.1258927

>>1258898
So you're asking why matter exists and the laws of physics apply?

So, more generally, why is there organization and patterns in the universe?

You're begging the question.

You start off with the assumption that there must be a reason for the universe to exist. Once you eliminate that assumption, all the questions originating from it will disappear.

i said CAUSE, not REASON

if I ask you, why is there gravity, I don't need you to say STOP GIVING A MEANING TO GRAVITY, THERE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A REASON WHY GRAVITY EXISTS, IT JUST DOES.

i thought this board was full of smart people.

i guess i should have put a disclaimer in my question: science cannot answer my question. I want your opinions since I thought you were smart

And I'm saying you're begging the question.

It doesn't matter how you word it. You are still assuming that there must be a cause.

>if I ask you, why is there gravity, I don't need you to say STOP GIVING A MEANING TO GRAVITY, THERE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A REASON WHY GRAVITY EXISTS, IT JUST DOES.
You face this problem and feel angered by my answer because you're ignorant of what science is.

Science is not a dogmatic school of thought, it's not a religion. Scientists don't presume they have the answer to a given question and until they find it, they don't feel like having any "filler" to mask that they just don't know right now.

One of the hypotheses is that gravity is caused by gravitons. Like many hypotheses, it demands rigorous testing before we can say anything else.

>i thought this board was full of smart people.
No, you apparently thought this board was full of some sort of preachers that immediately have the answer to all questions through some divining ability that the other groups of people don't have.

>i guess i should have put a disclaimer in my question: science cannot answer my question.
Science is not a person, it's a method.
