I'm an ignorant retard, however I wish to become a mathematician. How can I start ?

you're already a mathematician. all you had to do was believe.
also start where you want.
can you answer the question: what is math?

>Search on the internet about famous conjectures
>Chose the most beautiful according to you
>Fail to understand them
>Read wikipedia articles that explain each notions recquired to understand the conjecture
>Enter a never-ending quest into the math world, on your quest you will meet problems of various difficulty the most important is to try by YOURSELF to solve them, not just reading the demonstrations.
Good luck fren

this, better hurry up OP. I'm in a similar situation and also 23, and I feel like this is an extreme race for time. You can't learn new things after 25.

Start with solving the following puzzle to see if you're worth the salt:
On the opposite sides of a long stick there are 2 armies of ants, each army containing 100 ant, making up a total of 200 ants. Every ant in one army moves towards an ant in another army. Once two ants touch, they both immediately turn around and begin walking in opposite directions. Every ant walks with the same constant speed.
When an ant reaches the end of the stick, it falls off and dies.
The question: how many total ant collisions happen until all the ants fall off?

>> No.12513233

>>12513205
you never indicated the direction of the ants. If they are not in the same line they won't touch, moving the same speed also doesn't mean very much, it doesn't imply they move straight.
One ant follows one other also doesn't indicate which follows which.
also we dont know the will of the ants.
take this scenario:
.....
===========
_________.....
where the first ant is following the last ant and the second to the second to last etc.
.......................
===========
.......................
the ants are now centered. now they must pick to move left or right to follow the ant.
if one group move the same way they will never meet. if they move opposite they will meet.
and then the ants that meet will turn around and met again.
and that's just one scenario.
so it's between 0 and infinity.

Let a brainlet engineer try...
Each opposing army collision will propagate outwards with the last ant falling off in each direction. There's the initial collision of the two opposing armies then a collision wave propagates out, so 1+2x99, 1 ant falls off of both ends, so you're left with 99 on each side, then another collision happens again between the opposing armies, then its 1+2x98, 1+2x97......so pic related?

Start with Euclid's Elements
>Many problem solvers throughout history wrestled with Euclid as part of their early education including Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, Descartes, Sir Isaac Newton, Thomas Hobbes, Baruch Spinoza, Ada Lovelace, Abraham Lincoln, Alfred North Whitehead, Bertrand Russell, and Albert Einstein. This edition is part of an effort to ensure that tomorrow's great thinkers will have that same privilege.

I'm 26 and I can verify this isn't true. I would say 40-50 is when the brain noticeably gets less plastic. It's really that most people start working full time by their mid 20s and have no time for self improvement, and you have the additional time constraint of family and relationships. if you're a sperg like me those things are more sparse. The second issue is the fact that you're meant to have been socially stratified by your 20s. First in undergrad, then you get another shot if you plan to go to gradschool. From then on, what value is learning high level mathematics if you are not a mathematician or scientist? Is there any precedent for uncredentialed mathematicians being respected by academia in the modern era? I would say not, mathematics can be fun but I wouldn't bother with it too much unless you have a realistic shot at making it into a career
