Well, it's chemo therapy. A few decades ago this would have been a quick fix but it's much more complex now. People have no savings and the economy is not in a good shape. (too much debt, low yield, bureaucracy bloat). It's a service economy. No one produces anything anymore. Manufacturing has been exported to China. You have to end free gibs, reform education and fix the economy at the same time. It's not possible and not only are people not trying, it actually seems like people are trying to sabotage all of those things. Shits fucked. Either way, you have to make some drastic changes and such changes will always have short term disruptions of some sort. It's a dynamical system.

ending gibs doesn't actually get rid of stupid people. After all it doesn't take much to be a serf at McDonalds your entire life. What it does do is completely destroy anyone who makes a poor financial decision (like trying to attend college if you aren't wealthy) . They might come by but having a bunch of kids is not really an option.
>a poor financial decision (like trying to attend college if you aren't wealthy)
In a rational world you would mostly not be able to make such decisions. Why would a bank give an 18 year old a loan over 50k? Easy question. Because the government backs it. That's the only reason and that's also the reason why college is that expensive. Because everybody will get that loan no matter what.
>As well as anyone who has some kind of medical issue

It's not just poverty(see Nigeria). It's also education and lifestyle. Lifestyle is somewhat dictated by the environment and even low educated people in the US are surpassing the african average. The (fertiliy - poverty) - trend is weaker in the US anyway and it's not even corrected for cost of living. Rural fertility is higher but wages are lower because cost of living is lower. The inverse is true for urban.
>So if you aren't born wealthy education is impossible
What? Where does it say that? Remove student loan backing and college fees will go back to normal.

2) I know my money is all being invested (essentially) back into my state when I buy a product
3) It increases the set of skills within your nation which increases the net amount of economic activity they can do in the future. eg cars. If you just import cars, all you nation can do is sell the cars (maybe in a convoluted way to employ more people) If you make the cars your nation gains generational experience in: rubber chemistry, materials engineering, design, systems engineering, aerodynamics. Same with any product. The more hard skills you have, the more integrated projects you can do for less money (compared to outsourcing all the skills/ components). Is it any wonder the west is seeing a glut in hard inventive large projects at the same time it decided to ship its labour and production abroad? I think not
4) Hard products just feel better to a lot of people than paper work. Not that that means every worker needs a hammer in hand, but knowing you are working towards an end product that is complex is more satisfying than just shifting one on.
5) Wages less disproportionate. If the people who make and people who sell an item within a state live next to each other they will probably have fairer wages. (Its fine if bezos has more money, but no way in hell is he worth 21 million times more than your average worker) Unionism is just healthy late stage capitalism.

>Climate change is real
Yes. It's occurred consistently for the past 500 million years.
>Vaccines are effective
Depends on which vaccine. It also depends on what you're talking about when you say "effective." Effective at what? Flu vaccines for example aren't that effective when it comes to preventing the flu as there are often strains of flu that are not predicted when the current vaccine was made. They also don't last very long.
>Trust Scientists
They have a long track record of being wrong about a variety of things then having to change their opinions after a study or experiment sheds sufficient doubt on their beliefs. At best, they have a current model they work from and end up replacing that model later when the current one is proven to wrong to be sufficient for them anymore. If you understood this, you wouldn't trust a single scientist. It's anti-scientific to say that you should trust scientists.

And we do. It goes by the name of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. CFS is essentially a post infection syndrome. Not all people get it after an infection, of course, but the worse the infection the higher the proportion of people who get it. Long Covid is probably just CFS plus some organ damage specific to Covid. Long Covid was "predicted" by CFS communities since at least March, and lo and behold, here it is.

There will never be a scientific discovery that will prove evolution false. There will never be a scientific discovery that will prove plate tectonics wrong. There will never be a scientific discovery that will prove humans aren't causing climate change.

These issues ARE SETTLED. We have far, far, far, FAR too much evidence proving them to be true. We cannot ever go back on them. We will discover things in the future that will change our understanding of how the Earth orbits the Sun or how evolution functions, or particulars on how climate change will affect the planet or how climate change is affected by nature but there will be no science that undoes these things. Ironically, more massive objects fall marginally faster in atmosphere depending on distance from the Earth than less massive objects. Since more massive objects are "heavier" under the effects of gravity, it is in fact the case that "heavier" object falls faster than "lighter" objects. Sure, the difference is somewhere in the neighborhood of 10^-15 m/s average velocity, but they do fall marginally faster.

Depends on what your standard for something that works is. The effect seems to be there but rather limited and the experiments on how much is psychological (being reminded that you should keep distance) or by filtering out virions are yet to be done or inconclusive.
>climate change is real
You don’t say, but few will doubt that the climate isn’t one constant thing. The question is can we predict climate at all to a reasonable degree, because it hasn’t been proven and there are valid arguments why it is impossible. Only if that can be answered we can start to talk about the anthropogenic factor in the macro sense, because there is little doubt local climate can be influenced by humans.
>vaccines are efficient
In this general wording certainly wrong many vaccines were taken of the market because of their unfavorable cost benefit profile. Some are still on the market and have a low or questionable advocacy. Especially since it’s considered unethical to do trials where there is a placebo group once the vaccine is considered to be at least somewhat beneficial and not known to cause serious side effects in most people it’s hard to really tell how much is vaccines and how much is hygiene and less malnutrition etc.
>trust scientists
You shouldn’t trust scientists. The point is that they have to deliver proof and check and be checked and double checked again and again. The overall quality of the scientific knowledge is determined by how much results are tested and by scientists not being forced to come to certain conclusions. Simply trusting in stuff is the most anti scientific thing you can do. This guy has no clue and no insight.

Calling people 'far left' is an effort to delegitimize people who's ideology you disagree with. True 'far left' exists, they are people that believe we need to abolish property, eliminate all state governments, and live in communes. I don't think you have ever met such a person, I know I haven't.

What you call 'far left' are people who want universal health care, improved conditions for the working class, increased taxes on the rich, and equality under the law. At best the most 'far left' you've ever met would be a secular humanist.
