Guys there has been a leak showing mock acceptance scores of specialist candidates. According to this I'd pass on the bottom 10% of acceptance for anesthesiology.
Should I try it again next year or doom myself into practicing at a bottom 10% hospital?

>>12375085
I tell 'em 1 is a next to nothing pain while 10 is incapacitating and the worst pain ever felt.
According to the Melzack textbook of algology 1- 3 should be treated as minor, 4- 7 as mild while +7 is serious pain. You should always have a printed chart of the AVS so the patient can relate better.
A quick read of the pain ladder should give you enough tools to prescribe the correct drug.

Premed Chad here. How do I pick an assistant? I mean one of those secretarys. Every one of them I see are fats. Why do all you doctors pick non-hot women? Is this because uglys are better workers? I have to say I think this is based and I want an ogre assistant who has big greezy knucks. Btw I'm in junior high what classes should I take next year (last year in junior high) to prepare for medicine? I plan on skipping undergrad and writing the MCAT. Scoring higher than you LOSERS who take a whole 4 year degree to prepare for one test makes me LOL. You watch, Harvard and Yale will make me split my time between them so they can have me, the next Dr. Smart Man, at each of their schools. Hahah you should be quivering before me. I'll know more than you because I'm clearly more advanced and I haven't wasted my time gaming like you LOSERS. I've spent all of my years getting my ECs perfectly. Basically, there's nobody better and ill kick my feet up on the desk during my interview and just show them my cock before spinning around and printing off my own acceptance letter. Heh. I might even teach the advanced final year courses during my orientation week for a warm up. Wow I'm not even in high school and this is already easy. Why do you all day it's hard? Weird. Anyway, my shit is done. Time to go back to solving every problem that you won't.

How shitty was med school and residency for yall? Are most medical students fucking terrible?

When I was in undergrad I was dead set on applying to medical school but all the people the people I knew who were also doing that were just fucking insufferable human beings so that convinced me to not go that route because I'd want to kill myself if I had to deal with more people like that.

I ended up graduating with a chemistry degree and an arts degree and got myself settled working in entertainment as soon as I graduated. But now covid has killed my line of work for the time being so I'm thinking about taking the next year studying for the MCAT and getting a shitty job at a hospital for "clinical experience". I had a decent GPA, definitely not 90th percentile or anything but I got As in all the pre med classes when the class averages were typically Cs.

Would it be worth ditching a career I love doing for medicine? The only reason why I'm even considering it is because if there is another pandemic in our lifetime I don't want to be out of a job for a year or more like I am right now.

This isn't even a meme post. Masturbation is the only thing that causes this pain.
For the past 4 days I'll be nearing the point of climax and get this immediate throbbing pain in my right occipital head. I'll feel and hear the blood pumping to that area of my head.

How do you operate as a medfag when you have a lovely mix of autism and social anxiety? Every time I feel myself starting to warm up in a work environment I usually end up accidentally offending someone and go back to being overly polite and borderline mute.

Impossible to say without any further history (age, weight history, other associated symptoms e.g. thirstiness, excess urination) and the best person to do that is your doctor. Unless you are old you can probably wait a few months but that is not ideal. Some pharmacies have ways for you to check your blood sugar for free. If there is one in your area go there at 9am without eating breakfast and get your blood sugar tested.
If you don't end up going, you need to get your diet and weight under control, this would be the first thing your doctor tells you anyway, start by cutting out sugar from your diet (sodas, snacks, etc.) and do the exercise that you can (even if it's walking).

I have a question concerning my heart. Basically this year I have been experiencing these strange heart fluctuations(don't know how else to describe it.) Basically, once in a while my heart kind of tenses up for a bit(like 10-15) seconds but afterwards continues to beat normally like nothing happened. There is no pain involved at all around the heart or chest area. Should I be worried or should I see a doctor? Anybody know of anything that is similar to my issues? what is your take on electronic health records? data accessibility for your clients? is your institution supporting it?

Depends, we're not all from the same country. My shithole does benefit from electronic health records and every GP is required to have an electronic online database with their patients, consults, referrals, prescriptions and other documents of interest. It does make the job a lot easier and I'm grateful for it. The patients have no access to it, tho. It's really good to have them simply because of the accessibility and don't have to go through the physical records for hours to find out prior hospitalizations or stuff like that.

There are also apps made by the govt where patients can contact their physician (whatever spec) and make an appt or get help through telemedicine.

I fucked up and got cocky this term and stopped anki since I couldnt find a suitable deck. Should have made one though. Starting now would be autistic though with not much time till finals. Mainly worried about health psych since I found the lectures boring and didnt really try at all. All that transtheoretical model never really made sense to me. If you guys have resources for this would be useful.

I started Anki in 3rd year and that was not too late. The best time to start anki is the first day of 1st year the second best is now.

Try and just use AnKing. Suspend everything then unsuspend the relevant cards. You can easily find a Netter's/Gray's anatomy deck on reddit, use that.

What is health psych? I can help with recommended resources for most stuff if you give me detail.

Also, wtf you have finals soon? All of ours were in May/June. You should only focus on summative assessments that count towards your decile for FPAS. You should aim to barely pass all the formative shite.

Realise all your in-house produced resources (lectures, questions, cases etc.) will be crap compared to the resources coming out of the US for Step 1

Yes not doing anki was my biggest regret this term. My recall was very sharp and I liked the way it kept you in line for an achievable target each day. I screenshotted your comment and will come back to look at AnKing and Netters/Gray anatomy in the future.

I am doing an accelerated degree and our term schedule is unconventional.

Health psych is a whitsle stop tour of psychology. topics including personality disorders, depresion and anxiety, eating disorders, dementia, communication in children and learning disabilities. It is broad in some areas for example coping with chronic illness, adherance to treatment. It also includes interventions like motivational interviewing and CBT.

Honestly though, I don't think circumcision goes far enough. The risk:benefit isn't optimal. We should actually just deglove the whole penis and get rid of the langerhans cells altogether. I feel like the only options I have for jobs are super menial data entry, or working as a lab tech.

I'm guessing the only choice I have is to pick up something, anything in the medical field and just try to gain work experience from there. A lot of women go into nursing because it's romanticized. "I want to take care of and help people uwu" kind of stuff. Good nursing schools tend to grind out the subpar ones with rigorous training, so most nurses are intelligent and tireless members of the care team.

Then you've got certification mills that churn out people able to sit for the NCLEX-RN as fast as possible. Those are the ones that are annoying as shit to work with, think they know what medicine is, and then go on TikTok to cry about how haaaaard health care is.

Guys, I'm finally in my 6th year and the semester it's coming to its end, the residency exam gets closer and closer and I want to make a schedule. I'll use active recall but I don't know what to do before studying and what to-do calendar app to use to make the schedule happen, lol.

What do you guys do before studying? In these years, I woke up, brush my teeth, take a morning shower for energy boost and jump into studying. It worked so far, but the exam that will decide the rest of my career is coming and I'm feeling especially stressed (even if the exam is next year in november).

Any tips? Should I go out for a morning jog or should I do something else or it's fine to stick with whatever worked until now? The thing is that today I wanted to study for it but I was extremely stressed in the morning just from looking at the subjects and chapters, I was extremely nervous and doesn't seem to work anymore. Neither. Becoming unclamped is the only true counterbalance. The schizotypal requires a solipsistic deconstructive descent so it can create a new set of organizing principles, modulate its excesses, etc. When one unclamps they are increasing their awareness, and thus they are creating a greater capacity for choice over reflex. Reflexive function is the issue, as it establishes a largely external locus of control.

Ask yourself "why", and to every answer, ask why again.
Ask yourself "what", and to every answer, ask what again. Don't determine identity by only looking for differences, look for similarity. Look at a region or object from the perspective of multiple scales.
Ask yourself first what is possible, not what is probable. Trace out and weight every branch of possibility.
Become aware of the difference between the relative and the absolute. An object floating alone in a void easily separates relative attributes from essential nature. For example "progress" is discussed as if it's an object, when the question is really "progress wfrom what, to what"? Progress is relative. Intelligence is discussed as a matter of potential and capacity, however here too, intelligence relative to what metric? There must be a value system, a set of criteria, a goal, a measure of fitness.
Imagine yourself as an alien looking down upon this place, and ask yourself the above questions again. What is it. Why does it. Look at them and ask why with the same mind you would give to another species, or a colony of ants.

Final year medic in the UK here. I want to move to the US, so prepping for the USMLE and I’m halfway done with anking. I’ll probably take it sometime next year as an F1.

I’m not set on a specialty yet but I think I quite like neurosurgery. Is it possible for me to get into it as a foreign IMG that hasn’t excelled through med school? Got no publications. Or do I have to get into A shitty specialty to move to the US?

I am hoping to hardcore cv boost during the 2 foundations years while saving some money and applying for specialty training in the US after.

If I don’t get accepted, can I still work in the US and try again later? I know they are reluctant to take people who have taken a few years out into surgical training in the UK, wondering if it’s the same over there.

Most people studying medicine get actual jobs, so there is always a lack of competent researchers. The subject is so sexy though that there is a lot of money, much more than the competent researchers can even utilize, so naturally all kinds of bottom feeding scum start to leak in from adjacent fields to get some of those research gibs as they have no real employment prospects.
